It’s been a while, 17 years, to be precise since Bernd Kunz, also known as AFMB, released an album. After its release in 1997, A Forest Mighty Black’s “Mellowdramatic”, became a trip-hop classic. It followed several 12″s that Kunz released on Compost Records, including Compost’s 001, “Fresh In My Mind”. “Mellowdramatic” included tracks like “Rebirth” […]

Frankey & Sandrino – Lost / Starchild Remixes
Friday, April 10th, 2015 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Frankey & Sandrino – Lost / Starchild Remixes

Paskal & Urban Absolutes – Lux Remixes 2
Thursday, July 10th, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Paskal & Urban Absolutes – Lux Remixes 2

Image: 1589414 Paskal & Urban Absolutes present the second round of LUX remixes.

Already with the first LUX remix package (SK272, released Feb, 5th) Paskal
& Urban Absolutes together with Sonar Kollektiv assembled the cutting edge
of the current German club culture: From Manuel Tur, Trickski over
Sevensoul & Bender and Henry L & Ingo Sänger to Sello and Oliver
Marquardt some of the hottest players in the game between Munich and
Berlin handed in works which are by now default luggage of any upright DJ.
But also the second LUX remix suitcase packs a punch and is – be assured
– jam-packed with potential club monsters of all the nights to come. Starting
off things is this time not a German but the English man Jimpster. Having
founded the deephouse empire Freerange Records this DJ and producer of
outstanding merit knows exactly how to trim club music in order to cause
frenzy on almost every dancefloor on this planet. His remix of “Bits Of Me” is
taking the route towards Berlin School techno sure enough and gains pace,
especially on the dub version.
The second track, “Hold Your Head Up” features the soul-soothing voice of
Sonar Kollektiv act Arnold Kasar, who is working on his new solo album(!).
Taking these vocal parts to account in particular, the remix by Dortmund
based Larse embeds them into a sophisticated arrangement. Which
could be shelved somewhere between smooth deep house and the
contemporary interpretation of Boogie, which Larse is firmly campaigning for
for a while now.
Berlin based Max Heese aka Langeberg (Drumpoet Community, Dessous
Recordings etc.) attends to the matter in a total different way by pumping up
the song with adrenaline and a hearty dash of testosterone. In over eight
minutes you can witness the genesis of a danceable power bar.

TRACKLISTING

A2 – Bits Of Me feat. Pete Josef (Jimpster Dub)

High Heels Breaker – Come Easy EP
Friday, May 16th, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on High Heels Breaker – Come Easy EP

DJ Feedback:

Dixon (Innervisions, Berlin): Ich mag den Dave Aju Remix!

Axel Boman (Studio Barnhus, Stockholm): oh lord that kalabrese remix is so dope! and mr aju is always on point. great stuff thanks!!!!!

Pepe Bradock (Avatisme, Paris): Lovely stuff!

Jerome Derradji (Still Music, Chicago): The Dave Aju remix is really great!

Manuel Tur (Freerange, Ibiza): The Dave Aju Remix is really superb!

Harri (Sub Club, Glasgow): Diggin’ these!

Jimi Jules / Kalabrese – Hello Asshole / Kafi Lied
Friday, May 9th, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Jimi Jules / Kalabrese – Hello Asshole / Kafi Lied

Dance-Pop vom Allerfeinsten!

Psychemagik (Danny McLewin): „Both absolute beauts, sweet ass beats and vox, can’t decide which I like the most! Such a refreshing change to the endless same old crap I have to wade through! Will be playing both, THANKS!“
Tiefschwarz (Ali): „Great record – both tracks.“
Mousse T.: „Groovy little f****r“
Can Khan Oral: „Wonderful as always !! Love it !“
Rainer Trueby: „Loving this lazy funkiness on both cuts. Well done…. this is totally my kind of “Kafi”…“
Nuno dos Santos: „Cool ep! Asshole sounds nice :)“
Filburt (Riotvan): „Kafi Lied super Nummer“
Sascha Cawa (Katermukke): „toll toll toll“
Alex Dallas (Drumpoet Community): „Killer 12″, full support and endless love!“
Claude Monnet: „Nice release, both tracks are cool!“
Soukie & Windish (URSL Records): „Loving the kalabrese song!“ Available from 18.04.2014

Quarion – Sunday Night EP
Friday, May 2nd, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Quarion – Sunday Night EP

DJ Feedback:
Gilles Peterson: “I love Falling Down!”

John Daly: “Fantastic!”

Axel Boman: „Woohoo!! Quarion is a genius, thank you!!!“

Fred Everything: „I already had that from Ron and been playing it a TON!“

Iron Curtis: „Wooop wooop 🙂 as heard at Zukunft Zürich!!!“

Gerd Janson: „Super Platte!“

Jimpster: „Quarion nails it down perfectly on this long awaited return to Drumpoet. All four tracks are hitting the spot perfectly with Sunday night going for the rave jugular whilst my personal favourite is Falling Down. Definitely be including something on the next Freerange show and have put it in my RA chart for March too.“

Erol Alkan: “Great, thank you!”

Morgan Geist: „Thank you!“

Rozzo (Mountain People): „Definitely playing at least A1! sounds really fat.“

Jacques Renault: “Big fan of Quarion”

Rainer Trüby: “Absolutely loving the sounds of Quarion. This EP is pure quality. My fave is possibly “Falling Down”, but I may use the others as well in different settings. Well done, full support!”

Brame: „Sick!“

Dubinsky: „Ace release, sunday night is a beat. will be dropping over the weekend“

Salvatore Freda: „What an amzaing release, indeed ! A1 and Falling down are over cool“

Red D (We Play House Recordings, FCL): “Quarion does it again. His Muhk release hasn’t left my bag in months, and now he tops it with this one. *incoming cliché* ALL KILLER, NO FILLER!” Available from 11.04.2014

All killers, no fillers. In diesem Falle wirklich wahr!
