A1 ‘Krypto’ goes deeper than deep with an uptempo space disco number alive with expansive synthlines, funky clavs and intergalactic fx. Miramode Orchestra – Tumbler
Friday, January 27th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Miramode Orchestra – Tumbler

Image: 1608231 Agogo records present the new album from Miramode Orchestra.

Tracklisting CD:
01. Tumbler feat. Mara von Ferne
02. Break Loose feat. Mara von Ferne
03. The Sphere
04. Mice In Kindergarten
05. Night Song feat. Dan Freeman
06. Group Structure
07. Loco One
08. Scrabble Around
09. Hobo feat. Inèz Schäfer

A good concert is like a journey. When it starts you might not know what episodes await
you, but in your heart you can feel which direction it will take you in. The Miramode
Orchestra offers just this type of enriching, exhilarating experience. Although they
meander between coordinates including jazz, electronica and groove, the seven musicians
can never be tied down to a single musical location. The sound created by a four-man
rhythm section and three horn players is always flavoured by a certain ambition, but never
fails to let souls fly and get bodies sweating!
Their debut album “Restless City” announced the band as fans of both exploration and
experimentation. Why break down barriers when you can simply soar over them – after all,
they only exist in the mind. It is therefore no surprise that collaborations have already
included not only a range of artists more at home in genres such as hip hop, soul and
modern club culture, but also a string ensemble. The latter returned to the studio for the
band’s forthcoming album “Tumbler”, which is set for release in early 2017 on Agogo
Records. There is a noticeable shift towards more song-like structures: The vocals of Inèz
Schäfer, Dan Freeman, Mara von Ferne and the band’s keyboard player Eren Solak are
taking Tumbler to another level.
At times it is difficult not to hear a touch of Bon Iver, 4hero or Cinematic Orchestra. Yet just
as listeners are ready to slot a song into a pigeonhole, the Miramode Orchestra whisks
them away to a new, unexpected stop on their journey.

„One of Berlin’s most agile jazz projects“ – TAZ
„What an enjoyable music, just perfect for a Saturday evening.“ – Berliner Zeitung Available from 10.03.2017

Various – Private Wax Vol.2

Image: 1598230 BBE and ZafLoveVinyl team up again for Private Wax Vol. 2 – Super Rare Boogie & Disco.

Obsessive collector, record store owner and mine of musical knowledge, Zaf is vinyl junkie of the highest order. His first ‘Private Wax’ compilation came in 2012 and immediately became a highly sought after gem, due to the rare and wonderful disco and boogie contained within.

Owning the world’s premiere website for rare records ( and counting Gilles Peterson & Norman Jay among his customers allows Zaf a near superhuman selection of music to choose from, so anyone worried that he might have used up all his best tunes on Volume 1 can relax.

From the shimmering Disco of Starvue’s ‘Love Affair’, which opens up the album, right through to the uplifting last track, Wes Black’s ‘I Feel Good’, it’s clear we are in the hands of a master curator. Containing only original versions, literally thousands of pounds’ worth of rare records have been lovingly re-mastered to build this very special package.

With the current disco and funk revival making headway into the charts, this compilation of authentic, original material could not be timelier. From dance-floor oriented disco monsters to more subtle boogie jams, the album takes the listener on a journey from the nightclub to the streets of 70’s and 80’s Black America, where the early experimental blueprint for hip hop and house can clearly be heard in so much of the music.

A slice of history, but also a collection of tracks that still have so much mileage left in them, we invite you to dive once again into the magical world of Zaf’s Private Wax.

1. Starvue – Love Affair
2. Infinity – Queen Of My Universe
3. Rena – Dance It Off (Sean P Edit)

Ghostface Killah & Apollo Brown – 12 Reasons To Die (The Brown Tape)
Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Ghostface Killah & Apollo Brown – 12 Reasons To Die (The Brown Tape)

Image: 1582353 Ghostface Killah’s 12 Reasons to Die may be just a few months old but it’s already consider one of his best releases to date. Many say the project, featuring production from Adrian Younge, is Ghost’s best album since Fishscale. So good that it gets a second look and a
whole new sound with the Apollo Brown version 12 Reasons to Die: The Brown Tape. Apollo Brown was asked by Soul Temple Records to record an alternate to the Ghostface Killah and Adrian Younge album. To date it has only been released as a bonus cassette version (Hence The Brown Tape tag). Keep in mind, the up and coming Detroit producer did not create a remix album, Brown was in fact given access to Ghostface Killah’s
acapellas and constructed beats around GFK’s work. This made the project one of the budding producer’s most challenging projects to date. That hard work has paid of as The Brown Tape is also one of Brown’s best works to date and certainly an indication of the quality body of work still to come from Apollo Brown.

Juan Atkins & Moritz Von Oswald – Borderland 1/3
Thursday, July 18th, 2013 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Juan Atkins & Moritz Von Oswald – Borderland 1/3

Image: 1582388 After more than two decades of behind the scenes collaboration Juan Atkins & Moritz von Oswald present Borderland – their debut collaborative album to be released this summer on Tresor Records.

The album – made up of 8 sequences, which seamlessly blend the styles of both masters – was recorded at the beginning of 2013 over various studio sessions in Berlin and will be released as a series of three 12″s and a CD album.

Limited to 500 units, pressed on heavy vinyl and packed in hefty sleeves, this is the second chapter in a series of three 12” vinyls. Footprints was the second work to be produced in the Borderland studio sessions. A robust groove reminiscent of earlier collaboration between both legends such as the infamous “Starlight” released on Metroplex eighteen years ago.

On the B-side, Mars Garden returns to the Electric Garden theme with a high dose of ultra deep gritty funk.

Together with a live show being debuted in May at MUTEK festival – the record gives common voice to two independent yet mutually supporting musical journeys, achieving a singular expression of club-orientated electronic music and the freedom of organic musical experimentation.
