The Contemporary Jazz Quintet – Location
Wednesday, January 31st, 2018 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on The Contemporary Jazz Quintet – Location

Image: 1617764 The Contemporary Jazz Quintet, or CJQ, can be seen as the cornerstone of the entire Strata enterprise. Led by Kenny Cox, the Quintet featured saxophonist Leon Henderson (brother of saxophone legend Joe Henderson), future Strata mainstays Charles Moore and bassist Ron Brooks, and drummer Danny Spencer. In the late ’60s, the CJQ cut two records in quick succession for Blue Note, Introducing Kenny Cox and Multidirection, both triumphs for Detroit’s progressive jazz community. But these records were not necessarily triumphs for Blue Note, the label growing nervous about the group’s growing disregard for musical boundaries. “I’ve always surmised that Strata grew out of the CJQ’s disappointing experience with Blue Note Records and the general hopelessness of the surviving jazz scene,” reflects John Sinclair. These sentiments initiated a new era for the CJQ. They went on to release their own records, and even break the logistical shackles of the Quintet, featuring nine players on their Strata Records debut, Location. In order for the CJQ to be successful, Detroit needed an infrastructure that could sustain and support an experimental jazz scene. “They needed a place [to play], because what they were doing—original music—was a little esoteric for a mainstream audience at that time,” says Sinclair. As a result, they established their first cooperative space in 1970—a gallery/coffee shop on Michigan Avenue—where people of all ages could come and see a rising crop of local musicians, as well as national jazz visionaries like Archie Shepp. – Amir Abdullah 2018

Peter Gordon & Love Of Life Orchestra – Condo

Foom presents the new Peter Gordon & Love of Life Orchestra EP, Condo.
“Condo” (the title song) is a little-known gem from Peter Gordon’s catalog,
pairing David Van Tieghem’s motorik drum programming and found
percussion with the transparent and vibrato-free vocals of Rebecca
Armstrong (Armstrong was also a member of Steve Reich’s ensemble, and
contributed vocals to the definitive ECM recordings of Steve Reich’s Music
For 18 Musicians, and Tehillim). Prior to them working together, Nik Colk
Void (of Factory Floor) wrote to Gordon that: “(Condo) completely catches
my personality and when I feel disillusioned or need comfort, I always put it
on, and it makes me feel good and strong.” Their correspondence
culminated in the Peter Gordon & Factory
Floor collaboration, Beachcombing.
The EP is comprised of a remastered version of the title track, “Condo”
(which originally appeared on 1981’s Casino EP), along with 3 previously
unreleased tracks from the same 1981 sessions. “Neighbors” uses “Condo”
as its foundation, with Peter Gordon’s solo on top, “Candy Store” sees the
full band iteration of the Love of Life Of Orchestra, including Rebecca
Armstrong on vocals, Fred Maher on guitar and Bill Laswell on bass, “East
Village” relies only on synthesizers and electronic percussion, with a chorale
layered upon a deep groove. The EP closer, “Condominium,” is a nod to
those DJs who would play the title track at a slower tempo. The EP’s titles
are a comment on the gentrification of NYC’s East Village, which began in
the early 1980’s and continues to this day, driving out low-income residents,
including artists, writers and musicians, such as Gordon, Van Tieghem and
Armstrong.
[Background: In 1981, Peter Gordon joined up with video artists Kit
Fitzgerald and John Sanborn to form Antarctica, a label devoted to releasing
new video music work. The Bologna-based Expanded Records label
released the CASINO EP (on which Condo originally appeared) with the
Antarctica imprimatur, in 1982. Gordon and Van Tieghem returned to
Aquarius Studios in Geneva in (where they had recorded Peter Gordon &
Love Of Life Orchestra’s Genevaalbum the year before). Some of the tracks
from the Geneva II sessions appear on the Antarctica videos, NEW MUSIC
FROM ANTARCTICA LP and CASINO. The Antarctica label was unable to
sustain itself, however, which left a few tracks from the Geneva II sessions
unreleased until now.] Available from 13.10.2017

Tortoise – The Catastrophist Tour Book (Ltd.CD+Buch)

Image: 1611549 Photographer Andrew Paynter on the project :
This book came about from the long term relationship I’ve had with
both this band and their label, Thrill Jockey. I frst came to meet some of the
members through mutual friend, Tommy Guerrero. Over the years I started
to contribute occasionally as a creative collaborator. The band used several
of my photographs for their ‘Lazarus Taxon’ packaging. Then, in 2010 they
commissioned me to both direct a music video from ‘Beacons of Ancestorship’
and to also art direct & contribute images from my ‘SF Lines’ work. The band
also used other images for additional 12 inch records and then seven years
went by. I did think often about the idea of going on the road with them, but
was patiently awaiting a return to the stage, as they took a long break between
records. So the idea to do something long form became a reality. Once it
was set, I organized to jump on the road with the band to cover the entire
West Coast of North America and with an addition of a trip to Arcosanti,
Arizona. I brought three cameras, Leica M6, Hasselblad X-Pan and a Pentax
67. I only shot b&w flm and I kept my ideas simple and did my best to not
force situations, but to simply capture them from the perspective of an insider.
My craving to shoot from the hip in a reportage fashion was fnally fulflled on
this 10 day project. I’m proud to say, this is my very frst book.
Tortoise’s Douglas McCombs on touring and the live experience:
Twenty fve years ago in the early days of Tortoise there was a
perception that we were a recording project. This perception was probably
exacerbated by the fact that we barely played any live shows in the frst three
years. The reality is that we were slow in getting our band up and running due
to a variety of logistical circumstances, internal and external.
Performing live was always a priority and a prime motivator in forming the
band in the frst place. By the time opportunities arose for us to tour in a self
sustaining manner we couldn’t have been happier. This is what we wanted to
do, and thankfully the audience showed up.
Presenting our slightly unconventional material was occasionally a challenge.
We had to lug around more equipment than your average band and often
had to deal with temperamental synthesizers and samplers that would fail at
inopportune moments. Still, it was exciting and very rewarding.
These days a band at our level makes most of our living by playing live shows.
It’s no secret that record sales are substantially lower than they used to be. At
the same time we are all maintaining families that we didn’t have twenty years
ago which makes organizing a tour exponentially more diffcult. Still, every
time we step on a stage we are trying to invest ourselves in the performance as
much as possible so that we can give the audience a unique experience. We
want you to know that we consider it a privilege to play our music for you.

Simply put, Tortoise has spent nearly 25 years making
music that defes description. While the Chicagobased instrumental quintet has nodded to dub, rock,
jazz, electronica and minimalism throughout its
revered and in?uential seven-album discography, the
resulting sounds have always been distinctly, even
stubbornly, their own.

UGK – Too Hard To Swallow
Thursday, April 27th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on UGK – Too Hard To Swallow

Image: 1609908 To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of UGK’s first album, Get On Down goes the extra mile, presenting it for the first time ever on vinyl. AND 2-LP
clear vinyl at that, giving the strutting, funky grooves the chance to really stretch out on your system.
Back in 1992, Southern hip-hop was still proving to the world that it could sustain a fan base that was chiefly raised on rap from New York and
LA. The Geto Boys and 2 Live Crew had made strong cases by the earliest ‘90s, and Pimp C and Bun B were ready to make their own.
Most of the trunk-bumping bass comes from drum programs and basic sampling on these tunes – in later years they would build their sound
into something even fuller and deeper. Self-produced with additional work from Houston locals Bernie Bismark and Shetoro Henderson, the
tracks here are minimal, slow and menacing, which matched their lyrical approach quite nicely.
You can hear the beginnings of the group’s true greatness in these early lyrical workouts – several taken from the regional cassette-only EP The
Southern Way that got them signed to Jive – with tales of street hustles, relationships and self-reliance in a world stacked against them. They
may have been done early-on, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t crucial to UGK’s legacy – cases in point being the three singles: “Something
Good”, a charismatic update to Bill Withers’ “Use Me Up”, and “Pocket Full Of Stones” (the latter featured on the Menace II Society soundtrack).
Beyond the singles, deeper cuts like “I’m So Bad,” “Feels Like I’m The One Who’s Doin’ Dope” and “Cramping My Style” made it clear to the
world that this crew had the attitude and charisma to make even bigger waves in the years to come.

04 Wallel Beli [trad/B.H.Maryam]
05 Sound of Washint & masinko [trad/Y.Afework/G.Abebe]

Addis 1988 is the document of a moment in time when Mulatu Astatke was not yet the global Ethiojazz superstar he is today, but a change was gonna come for him, and for the whole
world. In Ethiopia, the Derg had started to tumble and fall, Europe saw the wall between East and West gain more and more holes until it came down, Southern Africa witnessed Apartheid taking its final lap before Nelson Mandela was finally set free. With Ofra Haza’s Yeminite Songs and Mory Kanté’s ‘Yéké Yéké’ high on the international charts, music of the wider world finally entered the house of Western pop, giving high hopes and deep inspirations for many musicians who were previously excluded. Fuelled by Mulatu Astatke as artistic director, composer, arranger and collaborating musician, Ethio Stars and Tukul Band’s Addis 1988 recordings vibrantly sustain the innocence of these musical originators, yet hold up to modern standards with timeless aplomb. The album also helps to fill a gap: the period when Mulatu and his music were largely forgotten outside of his homeland.
First released in1992, available for CD only and out of print for many years, Addis 1988 is now remastered and available as limited edition on vinyl for the first time, a stunning reissue 180 grams for audiophiles and collectors.

Low Leaf – Palm Psalms: A Light To Resolve All Darkness
Friday, September 9th, 2016 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Low Leaf – Palm Psalms: A Light To Resolve All Darkness

Image: 1606283 As her 1st official self-release under her own label, Creator DIY, Low
Leaf has produced a distinguishable record that not only establishes
her prowess as a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, but
also demonstrates her ability to execute her vision as a completely
self-sustained artist in a lane all of her own creation.
Inspired by Psalm 57:8 which reads, “Wake up, my heart! Wake up,
O lyre & harp! I will wake the dawn with my song”, Palm Psalms is
a collection of compositions written to plant seeds of light and truth
within the soul of the world. Rooted in an experimental approach to
singer-songwriting, the record is organically held together with all live
instrumentation and free form orchestration. Low Leaf’s strongest
and most resolved work yet, her songwriting on the harp, keys, and
guitar are supported by live string arrangements, eclectic rhythms,
analog synths, and soaring wind instruments that guide the listener
though her
universal lyrics, and uplift one to a state of hopefulness and divine
connection.
Low Leaf shares her most refined album to date, which explores
uncharted territory with the electric harp in contemporary music,
blended with her signature style of unrestricted experimentation
and natural ear for songwriting. Palm Psalms is truly a milestone of
a record in Low Leaf’s ever-evolving repertoire- one that distinctly
shines as a unique and authentic light throughout the musical
landscape of today, and of all time.

Elzhi (Slum Village) – Elmatic
Wednesday, August 10th, 2016 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Elzhi (Slum Village) – Elmatic

Image: 1565583 Elzhi (formerly of Slum Village) presents his latest mixtape project, a tribute to Nas’ classic “Illmatic” album. Produced entirely by Will Sessions. Feat. Royce Da 5’9″ (Slaughterhouse) and Stokley Williams (Mint Condition)

1. The Genesis
2. Detroit State of Mind
3. Halftime
4. Memory Lane
5. The World Is Yours
6. Represent
7. Life’s A Bitch
8. One Love
9. It Ain’t Hard To Tell

Who dares remake a classic? Detroit hip-hop mainstay and former Slum Villager Elzhi, that’s who. The emcee’s oft-delayed recreation of Illmatic, aptly titled Elmatic, has been eagerly anticipated by many, while prompting others to scoff at the thought of another interpretation of Nas’s pivotal debut.
That handful of homage naysayers are sure to change their tune after hearing rhymes on lead off cut “Genesis” like, “I’m too swift with the true grit/I knew if put a line down you’d sniff.” Following the opening act, Elz gives us “Detroit State of Mind,” kicking his block philosophies in true Nas fashion over a live instrumental that sustains the sinister tone of its original New York counterpart. Standout narratives on the track include the line, “I seen it all with my own two, the hood is like the glass house the devil throw stones through.” Memorable bars aplenty, joints such as “Halftime” and “Represent” greatly display the Motor City rapper’s verbal arsenal while complimenting the artistry of Nastradamus’s holy grail.
Guest verses are limited to Royce Da 5’9, plays the role of AZ to Elzhi’s Nas on “Life’s A Bitch.” Elzhi’s mic skills along with heightened musicality supplied by funk band Will Sessions’ instrumentals (including extended outros) serve as viable bonuses to the project’s listening experience. After sitting with this D-Town vet’s Illmatic cover, it ain’t hard to tell that he manages to recoup some of the genre’s fleeting magic, surely earning further acclaim to his own underrated name. —Nate Santos Available from 09.09.2016

Caroline K – Now Wait For Last Year
Friday, March 25th, 2016 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Caroline K – Now Wait For Last Year

Image: 1603281 Blackest Ever Black and Klanggalerie present the first ever vinyl reissue of Caroline K’s outstanding 1985 album, Now Wait For Last Year. This haunting, wistful work of post-industrial synthesizer music – the late Nocturnal Emissions co-founder’s only solo record – has accrued a fervent cult following over the past 30 years, and copies of the original pressing are today extremely rare and sought-after. Appropriately enough for an album concerned with the disruption of linear time – it takes its title from a Philip K. Dick novel concerning a highly addictive hallucinogenic drug, JJ-180, that induces time travel for its users – the music on Now Wait seems to exist firmly outside of it. Tags like industrial, minimal synth or proto-techno can’t really do justice to the richly cinematic sound-world that Walters describes: from the sustained ambient tension of sidelong opener ‘The Happening World’ to the future-primitive rhythms and stately piano flourishes of ‘Animal Lattice’, and the melancholic, deep-frozen synth sequences of ‘Chearth’. Fans of Wendy Carlos’s A Clockwork Orange, Chris Carter’s The Space Between, and early Detroit techno should pay special attention, but this searching, future-proof masterpiece demands to be heard by all.

Funk, Psych-Rock, and Fuzz-Guitar-lead Afrobeat from Zambia’s groundbreaking band. Contains a 20-page booklet with extensive liner notes, an exclusive interview with drummer Brian Chengala and guitarists Rikki Ilionga and Wayne Barnes, photos and ephemera. Download card included.
The legendary Zamrock band’s second album Give Love To Your Children follows Now-Again’s first foray into the Zamrock genre, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Rikki Ililonga and Musi-O-Tuyna’s Dark Sunrise, which compiled Musi-O-Tunya’s Pathe East Africa 7″ singles, their first album Wings of Africa and Ililonga’s first two solo albums, released under his own name: Zambia and Sunshine Love.
Dark Sunrise hadn’t even entered production when we became aware of Musi-O-Tunya’s post-Ililonga trajectory, and its uniqueness in the Zamrock landscape. It is the corollary to Ililonga’s mature solo offerings: Give Love To Your Children is teeming with energy and tension, hazily affected by copious drug use, and recorded quickly, before its members parted ways for good. And now, its often sad story can be told, and its
incredible music can be heard, thanks to the participation of Ililonga, Chengala and Barnes, who color the creation and release of Give Love To Your Children in an extensive set of liner notes and interviews included in the album’s booklet.
Give Love To Your Children is a marvelous, thrilling, charging beast of a thing that has to be stared at in the face so as to be understood. This album’s grooves hold the last, sustained shouts from one of the first – and greatest – Zamrock ensembles: Musi-O-Tunya exploded at the height of the Zamrock movement with this burst of fuzz guitar, chunky basslines, funk and Zambian folk rhythms, choral chants and compelling lead vocals. They never recorded together again. Available from 04.12.2015

Tanya Morgan – Moonlighting

Image: 110264 Reissue of 2006 album / debut album from new group previously featured on Little Brother’s “Minstrel Show” and Foreign Exchange’s “Connected” albums

Despite the virtual process that Tanya Morgan used to
produce this album (recording from remote locations and
not in the studio together), Moonlighting still makes for a
refreshing piece of work in today’s hip-hop climate that
seems almost totally bereft of what once sustained the
art form: groups. Whether it was duos (Gang Starr, Eric
B. & Rakim, OutKast), trios (A Tribe Called Quest, De La
Soul) or Wu-Tang Clan, hip-hop has always thrived off the
convergence and mélange of talent and ideas as much
as the transcendent singular talents of its solo artists.
Moonlighting, released in the spring of 2006, features
Brooklyn’s Von Pea teaming with Cincinnati MCs Donwil
and Ilyas. The trio spits witty, self-deprecating, yet
boastful, well-crafted rhymes throughout this 13-song
effort produced by member Von Pea and Cincinnati
beatmaker Brickbeats. As solo artists, the group members
(save Von Pea) would seem to be lacking. As a group, the
intermingling of their personalities (Von Pea and his BK
swagger, Ilyas as the MC’s MC, and Donwil as a bit of an
old soul) and their distinct rhyme styles keep the album
closer to unpredictable than boring. Moonlighting gives
hip-hop heads that ol’ familiar feeling — in a good way.

Opolopo – Superconductor
Friday, April 10th, 2015 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Opolopo – Superconductor

Image: 1596260 Opolopo is back with his new album Superconductor out on Z Records.

Opolopo first hove into view for many as the man behind the genre-crossing house remix of Gregory Porter’s ‘1960 What?’, a tune that finished in the Top Ten of many DJs in 2012. Labeled future jazz by some, it’s only a minor part of the Opolopo story which spans genres like a musical suspension bridge.
Opolopo was born Peter Major in Zirc, Hungary, a short drive away from the beautiful tourist spot Lake Balaton, but spent a large part of his childhood touring around with his keyboardist father, listening to the fusion sounds of Herbie Hancock, Jeff Lorber, Jean-Michel Jarre and Tomita, while finally ending up in his current residence of Sweden. It’s little wonder he’s ended up where he is.
His work, both on remixes and original productions is imbued with a life spent listening to the soul, funk, jazz and fusion of his youth. Yet, while clearly inspired by the past, Opolopo’s work still has enough clank and clamour to suggest its feet are still firmly in the present, whether it’s channeling the sound of a 21st century D-Train, dark, fathoms-deep house or doom-laden dubstep. His reworking of St Germain’s ‘Sure Thing’ suggests someone inheriting Ludovic Navarre own jazz-house crown, while ‘Treat You’ by Omar is underpinned by all sorts of wonkiness while Omar takes care of the topline. His remix and production work has appeared on JVC Japan, Tru Thoughts, Warner Bros, Tokyo Dawn and, of course, Z Records.
Arguably the best way to consume Opolopo is live, where he brings together DJing with an array of gadgetry that suggests an electrified Bob Dylan, switching between playing records, tweaking the vocoder, while still finding time for tasty keyboard flurries in between mixes. You don’t get that with Tiësto.
While Opolopo remixes dart from René & Angela basslines to delicious house music, his album Superconductor, is channeling the ’80s, a decade that has been a constant source of enrichment for the Opolopo sound. Superconductor is firmly built around the song, with many collaborations, among them Keni Burke, Diane Charlemagne, Taka Boom and others. Filleted in between even the tracks seem to a have a stronger purpose than mere fillers. ‘The Run’ sounds like a theme from a long-lost sci-fi programme, while ‘Monolith’ sounds like a tune exhumed from the vaults at Tabu Records. In short, Opolopo is a one man Jam & Lewis. Opolopo, as you undoubtedly know, is Yoruban for ‘plenty’ and on Superconductor there is a superabundance of sounds, styles and, yes, tunes. Come feast.

Friday, July 25th, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Laura Vane & The Vipertones – BodyQuake (LP+MP3)

Image: 1589308 Can you feel it? There’s a rumble in your ears, a tremble in your knees, the world as you’ve known it is about to split, swallow you up whole and spit you out! Then, and only then, you will know you’ve heard ‘BodyQuake’ the long awaited and eagerly anticipated third album from Laura Vane and The Vipertones!

It may seem like a long time since Laura and the guys took to the stage, but rest assured that they’ve been focusing all their efforts in the studio to create a new, hot and exciting sound! This album and indeed the band, have been on a journey for the past 18 months, peering through various windows, stretching into different spaces and smashing together diverse flavours in order to bring you what we all believe to be, the best of their song writing in 2014. The album struts about with all kinds of instrumentation from hard electric guitar and dirty synth bass lines to delicate emotional strings and infectious hooky harmonica. With dance grooves to sustain the heat and ballads to cool you off gently, this album puts ticks in all the boxes!

We are also pleased to announce that they have been blessed with very special guest vocalist on one of their new songs. The very talented Jono McCleery with his super soulful and distinctive tone, joins Laura for a duet and brings a sharp burst of contrast and beautiful harmony to the album.

Inspirations for the album were delivered by Aretha Franklin, Elle Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, Lewis Taylor, Carleen Anderson, Kelis, Michael Jackson , Annie Lennox , Jamiroquai… quite the arsenal of talent, eh?

Laura Vane & The Vipertones are looking forward to playing plenty of shows in 2014 and making a lot of noise! Those of you that have seen them perform in the past might notice a difference on stage as they’ve shrunk themselves down to a tidy and powerful 5 piece. Remember to keep checking out their live listings.

Musi-O-Tunya – Give Love To Your Children (Deluxe Ed.)
Thursday, February 20th, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Musi-O-Tunya – Give Love To Your Children (Deluxe Ed.)

Image: 1587221 The legendary Zamrock band’s second album and rare 7″ tracks. 1972-1976. Funk, Psych-Rock, and Fuzz-Guitar-lead Afrobeat from Zambia’s groundbreaking band. Contains a 64–page booklet with extensive liner notes, an exclusive interview with drummer Brian Chengala and guitarists Rikki Ilionga and Wayne Barnes, photos and ephemera.

Finally! The legendary Zamrock band’s second album and two rare 7” tracks. Give Love To Your Children follows Now-Again’s first foray into the Zamrock genre, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Rikki Ililonga and Musi-O-Tuyna’s Dark Sunrise, which compiled Musi-O-Tunya’s Pathe East Africa 7″ singles, their first album Wings of Africa and Ililonga’s first
two solo albums, released under his own name: Zambia and Sunshine Love.
And now, its often sad story can be told, and its incredible music can be heard, thanks to the participation of Ililonga, Chengala and Barnes, who color the creation and release of Give Love To Your Children in an extensive set ofliner notes and interviews included in the album’s booklet.
Give Love To Your Children is a marvelous, thrilling, charging beast of a thing that has to be stared at in the face so as to be understood. This album’s grooves hold the last, sustained shouts from one of the first – and greatest – Zamrock ensembles: Musi-O-Tunya exploded at the height of the Zamrock movement with this burst of fuzz guitar, chunky
basslines, funk and Zambian folk rhythms, choral chants and compelling lead vocals. They never recorded together again.

Oddisee – Tangible Dream
Thursday, February 13th, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Oddisee – Tangible Dream

Image: 1586275 I live in a gentrified part of Brooklyn, I eat out several times a week, I travel the world sampling the best that cities across the globe have to offer. Do I live in a penthouse loft? Am I dinning in five stars restaurants? Can you only find me in the most exclusive areas? Do I own a jet? The answer to all the above is most certainly no. I’m just a regular man from Prince George’s county, Maryland that figured shit out.
I discovered that I can make a career in an arena dominated by artists that sell false dreams. I realized that although the masses may not know of my body of work, it doesn’t take the whole world to have the world I want. Tangible Dream is a mix-tape dedicated to the deconstruction of our traditional ideas of success & shedding light on the possibility of a sustainable rap life.
These rhymes were written in economy class seats, these beats were produced on long bus trips & these songs were recorded in airbnb apartments. All I want to do is make music for a living so that I can live to make music. The only dreams I’m interested in are the ones I can grasp. It just so happens that anything you want bad enough can be obtained. Perhaps the world may never know of my accomplishments but accomplishments they are nonetheless.

X Ray Pop – Living Dead
Thursday, October 31st, 2013 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on X Ray Pop – Living Dead

Image: 1585066 Dancefloor friendly drum heavy horror pop from femme-fronted pocket punk and domestic synth pop from French DIY workaholics X Ray Pop.

With an iconic moniker, telltale graphic style and demanding ‘buy me’ Day-Glo colour coding policy the French vinyl output of X Ray Pop as a specialist subject is, at first glance, memorable and achievable. Cocksure fans of Euro wave pop often proclaim X Ray expertise from behind many a record shop counter or blog page but the truth of the matter is that no-one, not even the band members themselves, have the knowledge or mental capacity to truly understand the splatter range of the Godspeed anti-tactics that have turned this interchangeable, unarrangable and thirty year sustainable auto-pop combo into one of uber-legendary status.

Peeping out of a warren of unexplored passages their seminal self-distributed debut singles and appearances on the genre defining ‘Alternative Funk Folie Distinguée’ compilation in 1984 made them an omnipresent fixture for the French tapewave scene that shaped a generation and influenced many more to follow. But beneath the trademark fluorescent sleeves stands the highly stacked foundations of endless cassette only releases that give this pocket punk husband and wife duo one of the most impressive and elusive back catalogues of all their cut ‘n’paste French funk contemporaries.

Available for the first time ever on vinyl away from the impossibly rare cassette only release.

Strictly limited edition of 500 copies

‘Live From The Future – LP Sampler’

As of late, Uprise Audio have been setting new standards with chart topping hit after hit. This is the full release of the LP sampler (previous copies were limited 100 hand numbered, 1 sided whites)

A. Wayfarer – Reflections

Wayfarer is a one of the hottest new artists in the dubstep scene right now. his release backs up that statement and shows his audience the versatility and depth in his incredible signature style. ‘Reflections’ is nothing short of sublime – each element perfectly fuzed together with precision and excellence. The beats are crafted with incredible groove and accompanied by reinforcing percussions, solidifying the rhythmic bliss which unfolds piece by piece. The catchy vocals in this track are spell binding and command full body goosebumps upon every listen courtesy of an amazing vocal talent.

AA. Seven feat. Joe Raygun – Live From The Future

Label CEO Seven lays down the title track of the album and delivers a incredible and innovative piece of music. This track infuses chords, atmospheric pads and stabs expected of films like Blade Runner, shortly followed by a heartbeat-like kick drum groove setting the pace and leading you towards the drop. A sonic wave of sustained sub bass is then unleashed, accompanied by stepped out groove based percussions and an intricate arpeggiated riff, combining to supply the full euphoria of the track. ,This whole section of the track acts as a bridge and leads to the main drop where Joe Raygun provides his incredible vocal input “Its coming live from the Future”. Transmission Certified!

With support by Skream & Benga, Youngsta, J:Kenzo, Seven, Vivek, Ntype, Mala, Rinse FM and Radio 1, Reflections has been already tipped to be track of the year. Available from 16.09.2013

Deejay Busy Signal’s rendition of the Commodores’ 1985 hit “Night Shift” transformed a tribute to departed music legends into a romantically crooned reggae come-on, while his sweet, seductive plea for “One More Night” a triumphant one-drop conversion of Phil Collins’ 1985 hit topped numerous reggae charts around the world in 2010.
