Panduranga Henderson – Ocean Of Love
Friday, October 27th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Panduranga Henderson – Ocean Of Love

Image: 1616378 Luaka Bop present Panduranga Henderson’s Ocean Of Love. A key member of the Ashram founded by Alice Coltrane.

Tracklist
A1 Hari Namaste (Greetings) (10:04)
A2 Hari Haraya (12:20)
B1 Rama Rama, Sri Bhagwan (11:39)
B2 Om Namah Shivaya (6:14)

In the early 1980s, Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda formed an ashram in Agoura Hills, California. There a beautiful, multi-ethnic and multi generational religious community grew up around her. The highpoint of living in this very special and loving environment took shape on Sundays when Alice would lead the community in a musical ceremony, mixing both gospel and Indian chant, to create a music she wholly invented – it was something extraordinarily powerful. The Ashram is still there today. There are still some who live there and there is still a weekly Sunday service that is open for everyone.
The folks who populated the Ashram world of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda were a very special group of people. Many of the adult members were musicians before having moved there, and many of the younger followers have become musicians and film makers as they grew older. One these amazing artists is John Panduranga Henderson. Panduranga played organ, piano and sang with Ray Charles in the 1970’s where he was a star performer in Ray’s band. When he joined the Ashram, he became in essence a star performer there as well, though of course there were no ‘stars’. Alice sitting at the organ would say, “Panduranga” and John would come to the front and let loose one of his amazing gospel-esque solos praising Rama or Vishnu or Jesus, Muhammad, Moses and more. He made one record under his own name – a record so obscure it’s not listed on Discogs, nor found on the interweb? what?!
Today, for you dear listener, we would like to present Panduranga Henderson’s “Ocean of Love.” Om Shanti.

Jonny Benavidez & Cold Diamond & Mink – Tell Me That You Love Me
Monday, October 23rd, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Jonny Benavidez & Cold Diamond & Mink – Tell Me That You Love Me

Image: 1616234 This next chapter of Timmion’s talent scouting in the US will land home with the Purple Heart of Soul, and turn even the coldest of us to the love side. No prisoners taken. It’s time for Jonny Benavidez to lay his falsetto over the ever smooth backing of Cold Diamond & Mink. With the sweet as candy mid-pacer “Tell Me That You Love Me” he should go the whole mile.

Those, who have an insatiable thirst for crossover soul sounds by groups such as The Commands and TSU Toronadoes, should snatch up this piece of wax without haste. Texas made and California raised, Jonny has polished his teeth for years in doo wop groups and sung backing harmonies for big names such as Archie Bell and Eugene Pitt from The Jive Five. Currently residing in Austin, Texas he’s forming and coating even more sweet tracks for Timmion.

It might not break the charts, but for some with the proper ear for beauty, this will undoubtedly be the new soul record of the year. Have a listen, if you are one of those privileged people.

reallynathan – love n war
Friday, September 8th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on reallynathan – love n war

Image: 1611581 Compiled by Houseshoes, Love n War is a melodious jaunt through
the mind of Los Angeles based producer, reallynathan. Creations
representative of a fve-year span, from 2010 to 2015, the tape is a true
portrayal of what reallynathan’s music exudes: tension and release.
Whether it’s the ambient production found on “Shine Off”, the more
traditional hip hop sound on “Trickery,” or the house in?uence on tracks
such as “imafreak”, the theme remains consistent, a search for freedom
from the turmoil within and around us. Love and war.
reallynathan credits his musical style to bay area roots, years spent
witnessing the growth of the LA beat scene, and his most recent
discovery of dance music while residing in NYC. If the name sounds
familiar, it could be from his days DJing and producing for the hip hop trio
Late Bloomers (Tres Records, 2011), or his past production for Cashus
King fka Co$$. In fact, it was his work on Cashus King’s Instrument of
Emotion project that led to his discovery by Houseshoes, paving the way
for fve years of tension flled productions to see a proper release.

Peter Gordon & Love Of Life Orchestra – Condo

B2. Condominium

Foom presents the new Peter Gordon & Love of Life Orchestra EP, Condo.
“Condo” (the title song) is a little-known gem from Peter Gordon’s catalog,
pairing David Van Tieghem’s motorik drum programming and found
percussion with the transparent and vibrato-free vocals of Rebecca
Armstrong (Armstrong was also a member of Steve Reich’s ensemble, and
contributed vocals to the definitive ECM recordings of Steve Reich’s Music
For 18 Musicians, and Tehillim). Prior to them working together, Nik Colk
Void (of Factory Floor) wrote to Gordon that: “(Condo) completely catches
my personality and when I feel disillusioned or need comfort, I always put it
on, and it makes me feel good and strong.” Their correspondence
culminated in the Peter Gordon & Factory
Floor collaboration, Beachcombing.
The EP is comprised of a remastered version of the title track, “Condo”
(which originally appeared on 1981’s Casino EP), along with 3 previously
unreleased tracks from the same 1981 sessions. “Neighbors” uses “Condo”
as its foundation, with Peter Gordon’s solo on top, “Candy Store” sees the
full band iteration of the Love of Life Of Orchestra, including Rebecca
Armstrong on vocals, Fred Maher on guitar and Bill Laswell on bass, “East
Village” relies only on synthesizers and electronic percussion, with a chorale
layered upon a deep groove. The EP closer, “Condominium,” is a nod to
those DJs who would play the title track at a slower tempo. The EP’s titles
are a comment on the gentrification of NYC’s East Village, which began in
the early 1980’s and continues to this day, driving out low-income residents,
including artists, writers and musicians, such as Gordon, Van Tieghem and
Armstrong.
[Background: In 1981, Peter Gordon joined up with video artists Kit
Fitzgerald and John Sanborn to form Antarctica, a label devoted to releasing
new video music work. The Bologna-based Expanded Records label
released the CASINO EP (on which Condo originally appeared) with the
Antarctica imprimatur, in 1982. Gordon and Van Tieghem returned to
Aquarius Studios in Geneva in (where they had recorded Peter Gordon &
Love Of Life Orchestra’s Genevaalbum the year before). Some of the tracks
from the Geneva II sessions appear on the Antarctica videos, NEW MUSIC
FROM ANTARCTICA LP and CASINO. The Antarctica label was unable to
sustain itself, however, which left a few tracks from the Geneva II sessions
unreleased until now.] Available from 13.10.2017

Reuben Bell – Superjock / Make Love To Funky Music
Friday, August 18th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Reuben Bell – Superjock / Make Love To Funky Music

Image: 1611301 Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Reuben Bell began singing in local clubs. He first recorded for the local Murco label in 1967 before moving to the Silver Fox and House of Orange labels. In 1975 he released his first 45rpm single for Alarm Records (“Superjock” b/w “I Still Have To Say Goodbye”) which was produced by Wardell Quezergue. Neither side made any noise back then but 24 years later “Superjock” was included in DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist’s Brainfreeze mix.

Since then it has become a classic and it has been played constantly by hip hop and funk djs all around the world. It has appeared on a handful of (mainly bootleg) compilations over the years so we are proud to present the long-overdue, fully licensed re-issue on its original format.

You may check out Tramp’s “Countdown to… Soul” (TR-9067) compilation which contains “Superjock” as well as some other fine Rare Grooves. Available from 25.08.2017

Lee Fields & The Expressions – Coming Home / Precious Love

Image: 1611364 As Lee is out on the road spreading the love to crowds across Europe we
decided to press up another undeniable two sider off the instant classic Special
Night album. Another must have for the DJs….
Side A is “Coming Home”, Lee’s incredible take on working, how we get through
it, and why we do it. He sings to his wife a story a lot of people can relate to,
working all day looking forward to coming home to his family. The Expressions
provide the perfect feel good backing to this midtempo masterpiece with
beautiful horn arrangements, catchy background vocals, and a guitar riff as
catchy as the chorus.
Side B’s “Precious Love” is the perfect example of the song writing and
arranging prowess the producers (Leon Michels & Tommy Brenneck) and the
band have honed over the years. Catchy from the intro, this love song keeps the
dance floor and holds up next to the classics. Play this for your precious love.

Image: 1610402 Big Crown Records is proud to present another killer two sider pulled from Lee Fields
& The Expressions instant classic “Special Night”. With Lee touring the world from
sold out show to sold out show supporting his album, we give the DJs and collectors
another must have 45.
The A side “Lover Man” is equal parts rough and smooth. The production and the
band come off with a thunderous backing track that takes it’s time to get to full sail
while Lee lays down some tell it like it is lyrics. Fields comes to the microphone with
the confidence only a man with his track record could putting down what life is like
with him if the woman he is after just let’s it be that way.
The B side “Never Be Another You” finds Lee & The Expressions taking another turn
on the formula their success has been built on. An unorthodox track to find on a soul
album made to fit perfectly, once again pushing the aesthetics of analog soul further
into the present. Lee confesses his love and appreciation for his woman walking the
fine line of vulnerability and strength. Available from 23.06.2017

“I was 13 when I first heard “Boogie Nights” by Heatwave on a children’s TV show called Multicoloured
SwapShop and it started a love affair with disco music that has lasted all my life. There’s so much to love in
disco. 40 years later I still hear plenty of sample tracks based around disco records but what I don’t come
across much of is actual original new material made to the disco blueprint.” – Joey Negro
It’s hard to find enough superlatives to describe just how influential and prolific Dave Lee, aka Joey Negro, has
been over the last three decades. One of music’s major proponents of soulful, disco-tinged, vocal records and
without question instrumental is its development and popularisation, no-one treats a loop, groove or hook with
as much care and attention as Joey Negro.
Whether you realise it or not, Joey Negro productions have more than likely been soundtracking your life.
Throughout the 90s and 00s right up until today, he has produced an astonishing number of records and
remixes under various names and for some of the world’s biggest and greatest artists. Grace Jones, Diana
Ross, Deep Dish, Lionel Richie, Mariah Carey, Tears For Fears, Ultra Nate, Masters At Work, Roy Ayers, Blaze,
Roger Sanchez: across both underground and pop music, the list goes on, contributing to one of the most
impressive discographies in music, irrespective of genre.
Throughout his career, disco has been a key ingredient of the Joey Negro sound, and alongside the likes of
Nile Rodgers, Daft Punk, Jamiroquai and Dimitri From Paris, he’s one of the few artists to have been keeping
the disco fire burning.
Produced With Love is only the second ever Joey Negro album to be released, and the first for more than 20
years. And as the electronic music scene threatens to be overrun with faceless, bland and forgettable
productions, Produced With Love proves that dance music with character still exists. And rather than rely on
sampling older records, the overwhelming majority of music is newly recorded: a real rarity when it comes to
modern disco and indicative of the level of detail involved in the project.
During his career, Joey Negro has helmed a staggering number of acclaimed compilations and remix albums,
including Defected’s In The House and House Masters series, Remixed With Love, Disco Not Disco and Kings of
House: a haul not very few producers can lay claim to. Most recently, last year’s Electro compilation was
incredibly well-received, while Remixed With Love 2 – which included exclusive reworks of Robert Palmer,
Grace Jones and Christopher Cross all from the original master tapes – proved that JN’s powers were as sharp
as ever, with the collection going on to be Traxsource’s best-selling of 2016, reaching top 30 on iTunes album
chart, and also being named DJ Mag’s compilation of the year.

And so, back to the small matter of Produced With Love. Album opener ‘Prove That You’re Feeling Me feat.
Diane Charlemagne’ is without question one of the catchiest and most urgent disco records produced in the
last decade. Evoking the great Nile Rogers and Chic at their funkiest, it trips along on an exquisite bassline with
orchestral strings and Charlemagne’s vocal lending the record a truly timeless quality.
“Unfortunately between starting and finishing the project the supremely talented Diane Charlemagne, the
singer/songwriter who I co-wrote many songs with over last 10 years very sadly passed away. We had a great
working relationship, which was both fun and honest. Most of my final collaborations with Diane, ‘Overnight
Sensation’, ‘Prove That You’re Feeling Me’ and the partly re-written remake of ‘Must Be The Music’ are on this
album.” – Joey Negro
R&B and house music mainstay Linda Clifford narrates on ‘Won’t Let Go’, a deep house cut that celebrates
musical escapism, whilst ‘It’s More Fun To Compute’ – an unlikely cover – is a fully orchestrated disco rework of
Dusseldorf’s finest.
Further highlights include a completely remade ‘Must Be The Music’ (one of Joey Negro’s best-known records),
which is utterly transformed from its previous incarnation, whilst things get both dubby and jazzy on the Arthur
Russell-evoking ‘Distorting Space Time’.

Overview:
Charles Manson visited New York City in the early ’60s with his guitar and his songs in a vain search for recognition. Later
he had better luck in Beverly Hills, where famous musicians let him use their studio to produce this album. He has vocal
backup from the women of the “family.” During a stay in a San Francisco prison, he met a fellow inmate and gave him
the album to release. While Manson was being tried and convicted of participation in his notorious murder spree, the
government attempted to discredit the hippie movement by citing him as an example, hoping to stem the rising tide of
anger among the population over the war in Viet Nam. This album has achieved cult status among connoisseurs of ’60s
folk-rock.

Press Quotes:
“None of these songs are threatening or confrontational, the material is introspective folk-rock and soft rock.” – Alex
Henderson, All Music Guide
“There are moments of undeniable chilly beauty like the female a cappella ‘I’ll Never Say Never to Always.'” – George
Parsons, Dream Magazine Available from 02.06.2017

Alton Ellis – Love To Share
Friday, March 31st, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Alton Ellis – Love To Share

Available from 23.06.2017

Mast – Love And War
Saturday, March 18th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Mast – Love And War

Image: 1609335 Alpha Pup Records announces the release of MAST’s second
full length album Love and War_. Love and War_ is a highly
conceptual and deeply personal new work based on jazz trained
multi-instrumentalist MAST aka Tim Conley’s eventful love life
over the last 2 years.
Set up as a three Act Play structure (traditionally the Setup, the
Confrontation and the Resolution) Love and War_ is 17 intense
and unique compositions each ?owing into the next with recurring
musical themes or “characters.” Conley tells the story of (Act 1)
fnding love and the beauty and naivety that comes with exploring
something new, (Act 2) losing that love due to her substance
abuse, deception and Conley coping in unhealthy ways, (Act
3) learning to let go, heal and ultimately fnd a much deeper
lasting love. The tone Conley sets is sometimes sarcastic, other
times vulnerable and intimate, yet always musically intense and
profoundly visual.
Sonically, Love and War_ is mostly instrumental compositions
consisting of rousing electronic elements perfectly intertwined
with live guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. It’s performed and
produced by Conley, along with some of the world’s leading
Instrumentalists and vocalists. Keyboardist / producer Taylor
McFerrin appears hot off the release of his latest on Flying Lotus’
Brainfeeder label. Both LA transplants, Conley and McFerrin have
been friends and musical acquaintances for over 10 years since
their time in NYC and Philly during the early 2000s.
Composing and creating Love and War_ was an efficacious way
for Conley to heal and grow but he was very reluctant to share
such a personal story so transparently. Through this vulnerability,
he hopes that whatever anyone else’s Love and War_ story
happens to be, to learn their own life lessons, fnd the humor in it
and always trust in the most optimistic outcome.

Omar – Love in Beats
Friday, March 10th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Omar – Love in Beats

Image: 1609185 Omar has a totally unique, individual style and sound still marks him out as a future thinking and utterly unrivaled artist, who has collaborated with so many legendary names that it would be foolish to deny his worldwide reputation – who would dare contradict the likes of Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Carleen Anderson, Angie Stone, Common and fellow fans and followers like Maxwell and Jarrod Lawson?

Following on from 2013’s album The Man, 2016 sees his new long player further cement this undeniable reputation. Love In Beats is Omars’ 8th studio album of his long, illustrious career and may just be the most eclectic & varied to date. Somewhat more electronic in it’s conception and sound than it’s predecessor, Love In Beats incorporates soul, Caribbean rhythms, an undercurrent of funk, with touches of zouk, a jazzy waltz, spoken word and also features collaborations with Us soul legend Leon Ware, Blue Note pianist Robert Glasper, grime MC Ty, Guadeloupe born singer Jean-Michele Rotin, and Uk soultress Natasha Watts, The Floacist and Mayra Andrade, the Cape Verdean born singer who lives and records in Paris.

Co produced by Scratch Professer, Omars Grammy winning brother, this collection should create excitement worldwide, the sounds are varied – but all have Omars’ unique fingerprint on them, style and substance beautifully merged!

Tracklisting
1 Vicki’s Tune (feat. Ty & Robert Glasper)
2 Insatiable (feat. Natasha Watts)
3 Gave My Heart / It’s so Interlood (feat. Leon Ware)
4 Feeds My Mind (feat. Floacist)
5 De Ja Vu (feat. Mayra Andrade)
6 This Way, That Way
7 Hold Me Closer
8 I Want It to Be
9 Doobie Doobie Doo

John Milk – Paris Show Some Love
Friday, February 10th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on John Milk – Paris Show Some Love

November 2015 gewidmet. John schildert seine persönlichen Eindrücke und denkt darüber nach, wie wir aus Trauer Kunst machen können.

Cold Diamond & Mink – This Love (Instrumental)
Friday, January 20th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Cold Diamond & Mink – This Love (Instrumental)

Image: 1608307 When the seasoned singer and musician Bobby Oroza lay his gentle voice on tape at the Timmion Labs a year ago, nobody knew what was about to happen. The beat ballad “This Love” on the Stylart sublabel, flew out and the first pressing was sold out within a week. A dj issue was sold for a hundred dollars at an auction even before the record was released. The hype was real.

Originally the lengthy vocal take was spread on two sides, persuading dj’s to spin it with two copies to get the full experience. This pleasure can now be extended even further by rocking the instrumental backing by Cold Diamond & Mink before cutting to the vocal. Or, if you prefer it sans vocal, keep it instrumental all the way. Incidentally, not many are aware that Bobby plays the organ here.

For fans of Bobby’s extremely personal style, he has new tracks in the pipeline, and man are they potent. Keep your ear tuned to Timmion and Stylart, the official home of post-millennial soul sounds.

Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers – Liquid Love
Friday, January 13th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers – Liquid Love

Image: 1607933 Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers are back with their sophomore album Liquid Love.

Tracklisting CD:
01. Liquid Love
02. Opus
03. Kurifuna
04. The Disco Jumpers
05. Weird Panda King
06. Somebody (Part 1)
07. Somebody (Part 2)
08. Somebody (Part 3)
09. Somebody (Part 4

Onom Agemo and The Disco Jumpers are finally back on track with their sophomore album „Liquid Love“, a well psychedelic longplay effort jam-packed with captivating grooves of a bubbling, pumping, floating and defo frolicking and playful nature. „Liquid Love“ is also the name of the title track which can be described as a proper fancy ass, lime green glow-in-the dark cocktail served on dinghies throughout harbour boat trips to punters in full-on scuba gear.
Coming from ancient days and weighing in some Malian heritage is „Kurifuna“, a tune sporting quite tipsy bamboo flutes, long lost rhythm signatures and secret messages from Saturn. „Opus“ reflects the bands ardent enthusiasm and fascination for trance-inducing rituals performed by the Moroccan Gnawa people and is recommended to come to peace with one’s innermost demons. Just pump up the jam and bop your head back and forth furiously. But hey kids, don’t try this at home and without assistance as cataleptic conditions might occur.
With „The Disco Jumpers“ we’re having a dance to the hymn of the most dedicated amongst all Onom Agemo-worshippers. And btw – if the bands name seems a little too off to get stuck in your head how about some backward reading? If you’re like #wtf now be assured that there’s no deeper meaning intended. It just sounds fancy, outlandish and peregrine.
Also we see our time travelling guitar player contributing to this album with „Weird Panda King“,a song he might – or might not – have picked up throughout one of his trips to the 70s. And talking the 70s in general, the whole album incorporates bits and bops from the past, present and future, drawing influences from both very familiar and also faraway places. Just to name a few there’s Krautrock, AfroFunk, traditional Moroccan Trance, Future Jazz and much more to be found. The Beatles excluded, though. Finally „Somebody“ is the icing on the cake – a quadripartite suite that was premiered at the occasion of the second Kosmos-Days event in Berlin. For this special musical piece the band was able to work with three local female pygmies which provided additional layers of most beauteous folkloristic rack- wheel chants to round off things nicely a.k.a. somebody is counting on universal help to get in touch with somebody. Well, things like that do actually happen. For sure.

Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers:
Johannes Schleiermacher – woodwinds and modular synth
Jörg Hochapfel – old organs and analog synths
Kalle Zeier – guitar and vocoder vocals
Kalle Enkelmann – bass and microphones Bernd Oezsevim – drums and cymbals

Special guests:
Maria Schneider – small and big percussions (Kuriuna & Somebody), vocals (Liquid Love & Somebody)
Natalie Grefel – vocals on Somebody
Olga Xavier – vocals on Somebody Available from 24.02.2017
