Tunnelvisions (Raynor de Groot and Emiel van den Dungen) originated from a shared vision of contemporary club music. They
believe that the club scene – that is often focusing on a colder, abstract high-tempo sound – needs to go back to a more organic
approach. It’s one of the goals of their newly created Tunnelvisions project: “We aim to bring back the fun to the dance floor again”.
This vision brought the two musicians together – through hypnotic, exotic and grooving productions they tend to offer something
new. In the studio, Tunnelvisions combines elements from South American, Caribbean and African sounds. With a background in
house, techno and pop, they created a nine track LP that takes you to different places in the world. Each track title is based on a
river or desert. ‘Guava’, for example, is a Jamaican river: “This song is a sort of naive interpretation of reggae, pop and club music”.
Tunnelvisions already performed at the legendary Melt Festival, Georgie’s Wundergarten and various festivals in the southern
parts of The Netherlands, the place where Emiel and Raynor are currently based. November sees the release of their debut LP
‘Midnight Voyage’ through Atomnation, an album that already found support by Aera, &Me, John Digweed and Anthony Fantao.

Atomnation celebrates its 50th release with a Various Artists compilation featuring new work of about all the artists it worked with in the past. Launched in 2012 as a Bandcamp-only imprint, the label quickly made a name in the underground scene by introducing stunning titles from its front men Applescal and newly born acts such as Weval, Gidge, David Douglas and Sau Poler. Over the years the artist roster slowly grew – Polynation, Olaf Stuut, Portable Sunsets and Koett joined the club. Latest signings Tunnelvisions & Axefield appear on the compilation as well.
Atomnation released all kinds of records, mostly by bringing new talent to the front – not afraid to release unknown, different music. With its titles crossing the ambient, electronica and house genres, they found support by tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, XLR8R, Laurent Garnier, Dixon, Lauren Laverne and P4k just to mention a few. This Various Artist album is no different to what the label did in the past: it’s a milestone that simply represents everything it has built from day one.

David Douglas – Spectators Of The Universe
Friday, February 10th, 2017 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on David Douglas – Spectators Of The Universe

Image: 1608285 Spectators of the Universe is the brand new single from Dutch producer/artist/video director David Douglas

Following the release of his critically acclaimed debut ‘Moon Observations,’ “Spectators of the Universe” is a journey through
sun-kissed disco and gentle electronic pop, subtly playing with psychedelic and experimental elements and weaving organic
textures alongside more robotic landscapes.
2014’s “Moon Observations” was inspired by a different star-gazer with the same name. That David Douglas was a 18th century
explorer and naturalist, whose writings on astronomical observation has inspired the more modern Douglas’ latest music. Those
eleven tracks of beautifully fleshed-out electronica were certainly a worthy tribute, and “Spectators of the Universe” continues the
story in blissful fashion.
David Douglas is without doubt one of the most expressive and all-emcompassing creators around. Having previously working as
an esteemed video director, he switched his focus to music, and both his 2012 “Royal Horticultural Society” EP and his debut
album “Moon Observations” were warmly received, garnering praise from the likes of Pitchfork, i-D Mag, Electronic Beats, THUMP
and XLR8R. David’s live sets are known for the substantial amount of gear he has in tow, including a Space Echo that is essential for
his signature sound. His shows at PITCH Festival, Best Kept Secret and Into The Woods inspired the penning of his second full
album, set to drop early next year via Atomnation

Gidge is a duo consisting of Jonatan Nilsson and Ludvig Stolterman from Umeå, a small city in the north of Sweden. Jonatan and
Ludvig met in school at the age of 16 and quickly became good friends. They had a mutual interest for electronic music, and in
their second year together, after taking a Sound Production class, they started producing music. Nine years later, they released
their debut LP ”Autumn Bells” – a release that inspired music lovers from all over the world.
“Autumn Bells” was an effort from the two to make an electronic album that derived out of natural sounds and moods. Together
with melancholic vocal samples and warm, fuzzy chord progressions, the music of Gidge seemed to affect their audience in an
emotional way, which eventually resulted in the duo taking the top spot as Best New Artist at XLR8R’s readers poll of 2014, as
well as the LP ending up on numerous Best of 2014-lists.
2017 seems to be a next step in the duo’s career – with their next release LNLNN coming out on Atomnation. Continuing on the
success of Autumn Bells, LNLNN is a 7-track mini album where Gidge continues using the woods and widths of the north as their
main source of inspiration. The new mini album is a mixture of electronic music and organic elements, such as wooden and
stone percussions recorded in the forests outside of Umeå. With Sold out shows in Amsterdam, London, Paris and this early effort
to the 2017 release schedule, Gidge is ready to continue inspiring music lovers from all over the world.

Gidge announces new LP & 24 minute film in collaboration with Lampray
“Lulin” is a joint creation of electronic duo Gidge and film production company Lampray – all friends from school in Umeå,
Sweden. Usually, a film comes with a soundtrack and an album comes with music videos, but Gidge and Lampray wanted to
make something different: a project where film and music are separated, yet strongly connected.
This resulted in a 24-minute film & 42 minutes of audio. The film revolves around a man (Victor Lindgren) who sees
something he can not explain at the edge of the woods surrounding his cabin. The audio are two 20+ minute tracks by Gidge
with music derived from Lulin’s lonely world and mind.
Lulin is filmed close to Umeå where the Swedish friends grew up, and more specifically, right where Gidge recorded most of
the sounds for their debut album Autumn Bells. The film is written, directed and edited by Ludvig Stolterman (Gidge),
cinematography and production by Martin Gärdemalm (Lampray), lighting and further production by Linus Andersson
(Lampray), sound recording by Jonatan Nilsson (Gidge), sound editing by Johannes Oscarsson. Everything else was done with
and by their close friends.

Lulin is out March 18 through Atomnation on the digital & 12″ format. The film will be available to stream & download online. Available from 18.03.2016

Pablie – B Sides

Image: 1598533 Pablie – “B Sides” is a ghost project, produced between 2007 and 2009 and released in 2015 by Atomnation.

“B-Sides is a very special album for me, it compiles a beautiful period on my life with great memories, moments and feelings. The album is deeply influenced by the magnificence of Llançà and Cadaqués, two small villages from La Costa Brava where I spent long periods during the creation of this record. It’s an easy way to get inspired between the middle ground of nature and wild spots – surrounded by the sea, sun and mountains. My girlfriend showed me some nice places there and i quickly felt a spiritual and mystic connection with those parages. She has a very important role on this album, for example a track like “They Came From The Past” is dedicated to her. Pablie was my alter ego and more focused on my love for abstract/instrumental hip-hop, downtempo and folk. I think the LP reflects a kind of a hypnotic and lonely vibe, it’s like a secret place inside your memories and dreams, something that you don’t want to let go.”

Atomnation co-founder Pascal Terstappen presents ‘For’, his fourth longplayer as Applescal to date and a redefinition of his coveted sound.
If you’ve been following this producer’s output over the years, you’re likely to be aware of his meticulously built tracks and remixes in which
playful percussion structures and otherworldly melodies fuse into compositions that float somewhere between the sofa and the dancefloor.
Applescal’s previous album ‘Dreaming In Key’ found excellent support in the press (Pitchfork 7,6, Xlr8r 7,5, Drowned In Sound 7) and got played
by DJ’s such as Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier & Daniel Avery.
‘For’s’ content, the new album, still transmits that organic and careless sound of Applescal’s earlier work, but this time round things seem to
be dipping more frequently into deeper and darker waters. Many will recognize Applescal’s signature sound in tracks such as ‘Like You Do’,
‘Matter’ and ‘Overseas’, with dreamscape synthesizers and sparkling grooves being the main ingredients, but ‘For’ also sees the producer
drawing from a new sound palette, an even more mature one perhaps, bravely redefining his sound while staying true to the roots of his earlier

Sau Poler – Paradoxes Of Progress

Image: 1591856 Spanish Sau Poler is back with Paradoxes Of Progress a new four song ep out on Atomnation.

Sau Poler is from Badalona, a little town on the outskirts of Barcelona. Pau Soler (his real name) started making music in 2012
as a way to explore his needs and to have fun – influenced by all sorts of genres, mainly hiphop and electronica and artists like
Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada, Four Tet and Bonobo.
Pau quickly established as an all round and well-respected producer. Early spring 2013, he managed to finish his debut EP, ‘A
Soundless Echo’, supported by tastemakers such as Pete Tong, Thropics, John Talabot and many blogs including Xlr8r. Gigs at
Barcelona (Sonar), Paris, New York and Amsterdam were a natural continuation.
New EP ’Paradoxes Of Progress’ features plenty of new dancefloor-appropriate rhythms and often brings forward an organic
production style as we know from Sau Poler, his music has a relaxed attitude and unhurried basslines, haunting vocals and dusty
sample work, perfect for clubs or for home listing pleasure.

Gidge – Autumn Bells
Tuesday, September 16th, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on Gidge – Autumn Bells

Image: 1591155 Swedish duo Gidge present their debut album Autumn Bells out on Atomnation.

We are happy to announce the release of the first Gidge album, entitled ‘Autumn Bells’. The Swedish duo (Jonatan Nilsson and
Ludvig Stolterman) released two Singles earlier this year, entitled ‘I Fell In Love’ and ‘You’. Both tracks went trough the roof – ‘I Fell
In Love’ even made it to Nr.1 most listened tracks on XLR8R in May 2014 – over 100.000 listens in one month.
Largely influenced by their Nordic surroundings, the duo delivered a lush and emotive album with floating melodies, soundscapes,
forest-recorded percussions and pitched vocals. Always building towards demure climaxes and long breaks. The beautifully
stark piano blends with atmosperic sounds and sub basses make it very uplifting at some points. The overall somber and
enlighening feeling of the tracks give Autumn Bells a signature sound.
XLR8R: “You” is an impressively enticing first taste of what Gidge may be capable of on the debut LP “
The 405: “A glistening and heavenly immersion into the world of Gidge paired with high pitched vocals and massive bass.”
IndieShuffle: “It is a dance lullaby that will help you to close your eyes, get lost, and dream.”

David Douglas – Moon Observations
Thursday, June 5th, 2014 | Posted in Products | Comments Off on David Douglas – Moon Observations

Image: 1589070 Dutch electronica master and video director David Douglas returns to Atomnation with his new solo album Moon Observations.

This May will see the return of Dutch electronica master / video director David Douglas to Atomnation for his forthcoming album
Moon Observations, a natural continuation of 2012*Œs EP Royal Horticultural Society. With its powdery blocks of chords and
swathes of treated vocals, first single *gHigher*h gained support by Pitchfork, Xlr8r, Electronic Beats, THUMP, 3voor12, BBC e.a,
hailed because of the funkiness, porous synths and the slow-building atmosphere.
Inspired by the stories of namesake David Douglas (1799), a Scottish plant hunter who explored North America collecting seeds
of plants and trees unknown to mankind at that time, David Douglas (1983) started looking for his own musical roots. The greatness
of nature, the sublime mountain landscapes, Icelandic lupine fields, Arctic coastlines and Californian fir forest invigorate his music.
With collaborations by Dutch pop legend Blaudzun and Danish folk artist Petter Carlsen, Moon Observations offers a well
produced genre mix of electroncia, house, ambient and pop. This album could be this years favorite pick by fans of Caribou, John
Talabot, Nicolas Jaar, Royksopp and Tycho.

Control, humility and precision – emotion, release and catharsis. There’s two sides to Max Cooper. The public side is known for extended festival sets – a hybrid live/DJ performance that explodes from delicate, reflective electronica into abrasive noise within a moment, but just as fearlessly throttles back to moments of stillness and silent beauty – […]
