Brooklyn-based Tripletrain, comprised of DJ DBK (Drew Conley) and DJ Mel Gibson (Eddie Sergei), has been an integral part of the juke/footwork scene since their inception. Part of the Teklife family, Tripletrain has released four digital EPs via their Bandcamp page and were featured on the Teklife Presents: Nextlife 3LP compilation (Hyperdub). Their most recent digital EP, This is Tripletrain (August 2015) features DJ Manny, Taso, Boylan, and DJ Earl, while their Lights in the City EP (May 2014) features Berlin vocalist, Chiara Noriko.
The duo has also dropped mixes via Okayfuture, Weird Magic, and Ashes57, and has appeared on Boiler Room alongside DJ Spinn, Traxman, and Mic Terror. Tripletrain also hosts the Skyline Sessions, a live video podcast a la Just Jam, which has broadcast such greats as Durban, DJ Manny, Night Slugs, J Drago & Noir, J-Cush, and DJ Earl.
Tripletrain’s first vinyl single, featuring "Try to Believe" and "Never Could Be Pt. 1", two skittering, jazz-infused sides of footwork that feel as chill as they do energetic.Â
"Tripletrain are no strangers to the possibilities of footwork's playful side, and they pull it off far better than most. The duo's lean on hybrid organ/synth riffs and more recent R&B samples plainly marks their NYC roots." -adhoc.fm Available from 13.11.2015
