Image: 1581103 Phonica Special Editions' first release for 2013 comes courtesy of new signing Sad City. Northern Irish born, Glasgow-based Gary Caruth might not be a household name just yet, but with an EP on cult US imprint Underwater Peoples already under his belt, it's safe to say he's destined for great things.

His release for our Special Editions offshoot, is a magnificent four tracker of swirling synths, subtle detailing and melodic bliss. It kicks off with the reverb-drenched, hazy atmospherics of 'Polymath' and the trippy glockenspiel-inspired melodies of 'Easing' which recalls some of Four Tet's early output (definitely a good thing in our books!). Then it's straight over to the dream-like 10 minute journey that is 'What I Talk About', with the EP rounded off perfectly with the Steve Reich-esque title track, 'You Will Soon Find That Life Is Wonderful'.

The EP is packaged in wonderful artwork by acclaimed London designer Jack Featherstone.
