TrickskiTrickski is the collaboration of the two producers and djs Yannick Labbé and Daniel “Stoerte” Beaker. Both come from Freiburg in the Black Forest area and had their homebase in Berlin for the last 10 years. Trickski’s first release “Hormony”, a dirty consense track for the nujazz, leftfield and disco people, kicked off the Black Label Series on Compost Records. “Sweat”, the follow-up ep for Sonar Kollektiv, was designed to satisfy the house and techno crowds. And that, it did: Carl Craig, Trickski’s long time idol, selected “Sweat” for his Fabric 25 mix compilation and turned it into a little underground hit. After that Defected made sure to license and re-release it several times.

A few remixes later, Jazzanova – impressed by the fresh and unique sound and approach of Trickski – decided to give them the responsability for a new club series on their label Sonar Kollektiv: Trickski’s “Members Of The Trick” imprint was born, with Yannick and Daniel as the labels’ A&Rs and designers.

They discovered artists like Leroy and Darnell from Detroit, Movementz from England and the Skwerl from Vienna who delivered an instant, world-wide vocal house hit with his anthem “All Woman” featuring Hubert Tubbs (also exclusively licensed by Defected). Trickski of course, released their own music on MOTT as well. Further 12″s were done by the Future Beat Investigators from Finland and early – now world-renowned – Solomun. The logical consequence was a CD compilation that summed up the “MOTT” spirit in style.

Since Sonar Kollektiv slowed down, Trickski started working with other labels like Dynamic Music from Hamburg, Future Classic from Sydney, stilove4music from Chicago and Jimpster’s hot new imprint Delusions Of Grandeur. On top of that they found a new home at soulmates Chopstick and Johnjon’s label Suol.

Trickski’s monthly resident night “Members Of The Trick” at Berlin’s famous club Cookies draws a crowd of about 500 people on a Tuesday night – regularly. This is where you can experience their vibe and feeling for the music AND the crowd the best – especially when they spin together all night long. Trickski’s sets are open-minded, deep and entertaining sweat feasts. They take the crowd on a journey, from slow house and disco to deep and jacking house to techno and old school tunes. Trickski makes the crowd always go home with a huge smile on their faces.

Other places where Trickski has djed before: Weekend, Watergate, Villa (Berlin), Fabric, The End and Bar54 (London), Club 11 (Amsterdam), Goa (Madrid) Zukunft (Zurich), Apt (New York), Branca Leone (Rome), Dada (Tel Aviv), The Electric Pickle (Miami), Civic Underground (Sydney), The Eye (Gothenborg), Root Down (Freiburg) and many more …
