As a 14-year-old Bengali rapper Deeder Zaman from East London co-founded the Asian Dub Foundation. Asian Dub Foundation are a British eletronica band that plays a mix of jungle, ragga and dub, also using rock instruments, acknowledging a punk influence. Their distinctive sound also combines indo-dub basslines, searing sitar-inspired guitars and ‘traditional’ sounds, shot through with fast-chat conscious lyrics. They released various acclaimed albums through Nation, London Records, EMI, Labels and Virgin Records. The band had a great reputation for their live shows and supported bands such as Primal Scream, Rage against the Machine and The Beastie Boys.
Deeder left Asian Dub Foundation at the end of 2000 to start work on his own projects. In 2001 he formed Rebel Uprising, working closely with Vocalist Trevor Boucaud aka Passion and Dennis Rootical, bass player of UK dub soundsystem Iration Steppas. In 2008 Deeder released his first album as a solo artist Minority Large (under the name Deeder Zaman) in Japan on the BeatInk record label collaborating with artists such as producer Brendan Lynch and Tony Penultimate of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain Deeder with Passion, Dennis and the legendary dub producer/soundman Adrian Sherwood, founder of On-U Sound Records started work on his second album “Pride Of The Underdog”.
