Again it’s been a busy and very fruitful year for Munich’s Permanent Vacation imprint. There have been great album releases by Wolfram, Zodiac Free Arts Club or Pollyester and plenty of club rocking 12″ single releases which have been on the top of the lists of countless DJs. The essence of Permanent Vacation’s latest body of work can be found on this exuberant double CD compilation!
Ahoy fellow sailors! The MS Permanent Vacation is leaving its homeport and is setting sail for international waters. On this cruise yours truly Tom Bioly & Benjamin Fröhlich are at your command. They will serve you cold drinks, navigate you safe through rough weathers or rub your back with sun lotion. And they got their hands full to contain the crew they chartered for this trip: an exhilarated, trigger-happy and highly explosive combination of adventurers, treasure-seekers, buccaneers and pioneers whom captains Bioly and Fröhlich recruited from all over the world.
There is, for example, the tall Viking Todd Terje (or Chuck Norris as we call him on board) who was found guilty of hitchhiking our teenage love “All That She Wants” to the Caribbean islands to give her the Sly & Robbie treatment. Or Canada’s own Azari & III, who warp us back to 1993. Esp. under the supervision of “Nordic By Nature” Tensnake, who helps to reanimate Snap and C+C music factory. Also, Austrian darling Wolfram feels very comfortable in the 90′s, which he proves not only by collaborating with euro dance hero Haddaway (featured here in the excellent Legowelt remix), but also with Hercules and Love Affair. Our very own 9-piece cruiser band “Midnight Magic”, originally hailing from Brooklyn, New York, is happy to entertain you during dinner and for a jolly Disko Boogie Dance afterwards.
Two of the youngest members of the crew are the ship kobolds Bostro Pesopeo and Pional, who manages to astonish the guests every time by an unexpected twist and fresh tricks and makes us see clear again when it’s foggy. Another loud foghorn is in possession of Black Van who bring along “Moments Of Excellence”. The Parallel Dance Ensemble comes the long way from New Zealand to accompany the group with their nautical experience similar to sea dog Argy, who brings trip hop back on the map with his remix for his own project Zodiac Free Arts Club.
The Permanent Vacation guys are in particular proud of their freshmen and latest addition Candyblasta, who immediately found their place on the boat and of whom we can expect a lot more in the very near future. A big support for the whole crew is veteran and jack-of-all-trades Mr. Ed Dmx as in DMX Krew who shares the same production views in using analog gear as our first engineer Tevo Howard who joined the boat via the hometown of house music Chicago. The crew is completed by talented Portuguese fella Mirror People and the mighty mind-opener James Curd from Australia.
Even though they may appear rough and ready at times they are the best possible gang of rascals to guarantee you an exciting, joyful and safe cruise over the seven seas. Hope to see you on board of the MS Permanent Vacation soon!
