Le Le is a band project of Parra. The creative mastermind from Amsterdam made a name for himself as one of the most talented illustration artists in the alternative art world. Parra has been working for brands like Nike and Alife, and his work has been published in publications such as Juxtapoz, Wallpaper, Complex, and New York Magazine, to name just a few. The mostly self-taught artist seems to channel a vintage form with curves, yet with a decidedly modern, post-pop approach. His vibrant and often humorous images which feature a distinctive, hand-drawn feel, can be seen printed on paper in various exhibitions all over the planet. Parra is also the owner of a clothing brand called Rockwell.

Less known is the fact that he has been making music since his childhood years. With his band Le Le he already had one big release in Benelux, “Skinny Jeans”. Even if the song was meant as a joke “Skinny Jeans” entered the Dutch Top 30.

Inspired by nu-wave disco, Italo disco, pop clichés and 60s glamour magazines, Le Le is a unique band: the music, the vocals, the sense of humour, the ironic take on current mainstream glam pop, the art background and their attitude. “A lot of songs are inspired by the rich lifestyle people with a lot of gold on, no taste but lots of money … we like to drink good wine and look at pictures of Brigitte Bardot, so we naturally wanted a French sounding name for the band …”.

The music of Le Le is a straightforward progression for the current disco/house scene because they bring back techno and pop elements into contemporary dance music, but with a special approach.

And Le Le is something like an all-star band. Besides Parra there are Serge Fabergé who used to be a member of Dutch rap-electro crew DJVT (their first single went #1 in Holland and Belgium). The third member Rimer London has been part of the electro duo Comtron, who supported Kraftwerk, Faithless, and The Scissor Sisters.

But to get an accurate impression of what Le Le is all about you have to check out their live shows. The three guys have a quite amazing performance concept with Parra doing live action drawing while the other two guys rock the machines and mics. People love it!

On April 30, 2010, the Munich based Gomma imprint will release Le Le’s new album “Le Classics”. Also check out the remixes for “Breakfast”, “Disco Monster”, and the new single “Number One Girl” by Azari & III, Mercury, Seymour Bits, Kill The Noise, Headman, Young Marco and Anthony Mansfield.
