5534A fixture of the UK electronic music scene since 1994, Neil Landstrumm has released work on many of the most recognised labels in the industry. Starting with Peacefrog, shifting gears to Berlins’ Tresor Records he then upped the bass-game onto arguably the UKs’ greatest electronic label of the moment, Planet Mu. Neil’s first album for Mu “Restaurant Of Assassins” saw Landstrumm hijacking varied influences from techno, dubstep, garage and breaks as well as vintage 90s rave and Sheffield sounds.

He is an artist who always seems to be at the spearhead of experimental, dancehall low frequency electronics with his Scandinavia label signature. A pioneer of new styles within techno, often copied and imitated Landstrumm has enjoyed a strong pedigree within the electronic scene. The success of “Restaurant Of Assassins” ravestep sound led Neil onto a string of sessions for the BBC, a main feature on the German “Slices” DVD, a relentless live tour all throughout 2008, and an album on Planet Mu entitled “Lord For £39”.

And now Landstrumm returns with this psychedelic 8 track minimal album that wires together dubstep and grime’s modes and fx with a penchant for 8- bit melodies, brick-a-brack percussion and a touch of rave’s rude energy. The tracks on “Bambaataa Eats His Breakfast” are infused with a joyous abandon, like the sweet melodies of opener “The Coconut Kestrel” or the melted patois voices, pulverising bass and computer game melody of “SK1 The Damager”. Other tracks are detailed with strange cues like the weird children’s voices on “Schlump Funk” or the psychiatrist voice on “How Do You Feel?”. Two of the tracks “Say N Do” and “Can’t See Me” feature the dusted vocals of MC Profisee, rapper and producer with Scottish group Cloak x Dagger.
