Greek mythology suggests that humans are creatures cut in half who spend their lives wandering around trying to find the other half. If this is true, producer Dan The Automator is a lucky man, for each collaboration in his multi faceted carreer has spawned success.

From his breakthrough album “Dr Octagon” with Kool Keith to the international smash success of The Gorillaz, Dan The Automator has always worked in collaboration with other MC’s, producers or singers. Damon Albarn, Mike Patton, Cornershop, Primal Scream, Eels, Prince Paul, Del The Funky Homosapien, Mike Simpson (Dust Brothers)…the list of the artists blessed to work with Dan The Automator reads like a compendium of the best music has to offer.

Yet with his new project, Dan raises the bar even higher. “2K7”, the soundtrack to the new NBA Playstation game, features some of the hottest rappers of today: Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Ghostface, E40, Slim Thug, Fabolous and many more lend their skills to one of the most esteemed producers of his time. The result is a vibrant collection of classic hip hop burners. And it even contains a remix of “Lyrics to Go”, the classic hit by A Tribe Called Quest.

Says Dan The Automator: “From the start, I was interested of exploring the various facets of today’s hip hop. It was a matter of making their style match mine, without forcing the rappers into what they don’t sound like and at the same time keeping the record a continuous work. I think we did a great job. Someone from the Bay Area like E40 comes off equally as interesting as someone from the East Coast like Ghostface or someone from the South like Slim Thug.”

“It was cool to work on “NBA 2K7″ with 2K Sports. They have consistently made the best hoops videogame and produced by far the most diverse and representative video game soundtracks”, he adds. “Basketball has universal popularity in every city in America and beyond. For “2K7” I wanted to represent that universal appeal by bringing together artists from all the various regions in the States. “2K7″…bringin’ the real hip hop.”

Some featured artists also appear in the game as playable characters, including Phife from A Tribe Called Quest, Dan The Automator, and Slim Thug, among others.
