Tanya Stephens is the poet laureate of the dancehall reggae scene. Her songwriting is remarkable for the depth of passion and sense of humor that Tanya brings to every topic. Her raspy voice casts a spell of sweet longing. Broken by Jamaican patios verses laced with potent messages and indelible images of a street poet. She is a songwriter with a sense of humor and irony that fits her Jamaican background and the reggae music she promotes.

Having made her name on the dancehall circuit of the late ‘90s, Tanya took it to another level with the 2004 album “Gangsta Blues” which thoroughly distinguished her as more than a dancehall act. Songs like “What A Day” and the international hit “It’s A Pity” helped position her as the leading lady of reggae. “Rebelution” keeps it gangsta. The first single “These Streets” has been serviced to core reggae and college radio. Video servicing is scheduled for early August. Long lead press has been serviced for features and reviews. Extensive on line marketing campaign including exclusives with iTunes and a Myspace.com web page will alert her devoted fan base to the dawning of the “Rebelution”.

The album Tanya StephensRebelution” (VP) is going to be released August 18, 2006.
