Don’t call them no Jazz, no Electronica, no Abstract, call them Pitch Cifte Modulators – they roast nuts like Funkstörung, Beatfanatic, Four Tet, Greyboy, Ammon Contact, LCD Soundsystem or Bill Laswell’s Material …

Arkstar is a loose collective of beat-heads, MPC virtuous and Jazz musicians that emerged from one of Switzerland’s most innovative Jazz bands to constantly imbed contemporary electronical music in Jazz, the former Freeform Arkestra.

A true Zuercher futuristic B-Boy combo that took the long secularized breaks of Rap music and flavoured them with what they squeezed out of their misused and improved gadgets, machines and instruments to bring you ingenious pieces of modern electronical dance music. Arkstar is rather a space-time vektor than a real band, as they transcend personhood through their sound, built off of shuffling drums, sizzling synthesizer, squeaking guitars, irresistible grooves and jazzy vibes. Picture George Clinton and Sun Ra in their early thirties meeting up 2005 in London “ they would be sweeping off dancefloors and Jazz festivals at the same time, leaving your loin vibrating and your ass muscles pulsating; that’s Arkstar! Let them say it in their own words, borrowed from William S. Burroughs: “Take off your skin and dance around your bones”.

The album ArkstarIndividual Electric Pitch Cifte Modulato” (Ish Records) is going to be released February 17, 2006.
