The Munich based Gomma label comes up with another new band that has a very own, fresh sound: Who Made Who from Denmark. The trio plays disco, but not connecting it with (Post) Punk and New Wave like so many other bands right now – their influences come from a wider range of music, everything from surf music to folk to funk to pop, mixed with a big dose of Italodisco.

The band has already released three singles since 2004 wich caused some real buzz and heavy rotations from DJ’s all over the place. Especially “Satisfaction” became a big hit in many clubs. People realized that Who Made Who are a fascinating band and even better live. Now the Danish band is going to release their amazing full length debut “Who Made Who”.

Who Made Who Interview (audio, mp3) by

“Brilliant!” (NME)

“… while the record is super fun, the band is even better live!” (Dazed & Confused)

“Should coax even the shyest of floors back from the death!” (DJ Mag)

“Definitely a trio to watch” (DJ Mag)

“Then as luck would have it on the only day I went to Sonar by day I arrived just as WMW were starting…Anyway these guys were by far the best thing I saw at Sonar over four days. They totally blew me and the place apart. In fact it was the best performance I have seen since the first time I saw LCD Soundsystem. People loved it.” (Ralph Lawson / 20:20 Vision)

“If you just listen to one thing I say this year, make it the next sentence. Buy this album because it’s the best album I’ve heard all year. Whilst not wishing to ruin the treat by creating an anti-climax and bigging it up to high heaven, I can’t help but extoll the wonderful virtues of “Who Made Who”. Essentially what we have is a cross between ACR & The Scissor Sisters with some !!! Rapture-esque cowbells thrown in for good measure with each song being pretty worthy of being a single in its own right. Certain songs are reminiscent of a smoother (perhaps more Danish) Gang of Four such as “Out the Door” that also happens to have that marvellous “Do the Du/Losing my Edge” bass-line I will never tire of hearing. Then of course we have the magnificent take on Benni Benassi’s “Satisfaction” which somehow manages to eclipse the original. The rest of the tunes tend to be the kind of slamming, guitar-y disco that I think my ears were made for listening to. I kid ye not when I say I listened to it again and again and then again after my first spin, an absolutley essential album.” (review by

“This is what happens if you take three guys from Denmark with very different musical backgrounds, overactive imaginations, and a joint love of disco, stick them in a studio and say: “create something beautiful!” The self titled album, “Whomadewho”, due for release at the end of the summer this year, is a very exciting record with a lot to say about what is hip. “Whomadewho” is a lesson in how to combine all the best bits from punk, new wave, folk, 70’s funk, pop and indie into a groovy, poppy, dancey collaboration without sounding messy, off the mark or plain cheesy. The band who have released just three singles in the past 8 months still managed to create a huge stir with DJs all over the world. New single, “The Loop” which is currently surrounded by a huge buzz has had a brilliant success in many clubs, along with brilliant reviews from critics including Pete Tong who featured the band in his Radio One Essential Chart. The band have supported the likes of 2 Many DJs and Soulwax, so it seems that soon they could be a lot better known! “Whomadewho” is very much a feel good album. A head-bopping, shoulder-shrugging, hip-swinging boogie from start to finish. Excellent songwriting and spacey elaborations layered over strong guitar melodies and laced with calm yet fitting vocals with funky beats and breaks. They may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but they’re definitely worth a listen, even if it’s just to hear the amazing dirty remix of Benny Benassi’s, “Satisfaction” which closes the album. Whomadewho are just brilliant!” (review by Kat Lynch @
