DJ Hell, Peter Kruder, Michael Reinboth and Theo Thönnessen guided us through volume 1. This time our selectors are Trevor Jackson (Output), Richard Dorfmeister, Trickski & Pole, choosing some of their favourite moments in 30 years of music “ incl. tracks from Can, Propaganda (ZTT), Colourbox (4AD), P-Funk All Stars (George Clinton, Bootsy Collins …), David Thomas (Pere Ubu), The Goats (with a leftfield hip hop classic from 1992), underground house icon Elbee Bad, Julian Jonah (with a long forgotten British masterpiece, being the basis for the Electribe 101 hit “Talking To Myself”), legendary pianist Friedrich Gulda, Allez Allez (with an 80s cosmic disco dub classic).

Far from being just another DJ mix compilation, the second volume of “I Like It” continues the concept of number one, giving each artist the freedom to present his personal favourites “ musical genres do not matter. Every CD and triple vinyl pack comes with four collectable questionnaire cards (one per selector). On these, Richard Dorfmeister, Trevor Jackson, Pole and Trickski are answering all questions you ever wanted to know about.

Trevor Jackson:
Jackson has remixed various artists including Massive Attack, Unkle and U2 and his production credits are too lengthy to mention. The Veteran DJ and producer is internationally known for his Playgroup project. In addition to his musical releases, Jackson’s own label Output records stands for high class quality music such as Mu, The Rapture or Lopazz. He is also serving as the imprint’s in house graphic artist.

As an active remixer, label owner, musician, DJ, mastering engineer, promoter, studio owner and producer, all of Pole’s outlets are governed by his urge to distil the substance of sounds and ideas, irrespective of any scenes. For Betke it’s the content which counts, rarely the environment it was generated in. This is mirrored by both the titles of his previous albums, which were kept deliberately simple (blue/1997, red/1999, yellow 2000) to avoid any distraction from their actual content, and his very personal selection of other projects.

Richard Dorfmeister:
Whether in cooperation with Peter Kruder as K&D, together with Rupert Huber as Tosca, together with Madrid De Los Austrias or as a soloartist Richard Dorfmeister has set standards! Whether as a remixer, a producer of own compositions or as a worldwide celebrated DJ, the name Richard Dorfmeister stands for innovation, taste and quality made in Austria.

Daniel Becker (Compost/Helsinki) and Yannick Labbé (Cabinet/Compost) are going wild with Trickski. The internationally booked Dj’s and founders of Berlin’s underground club Helsinki are famous for foxy mixes and crazy, never-ending parties. Their mad tech-jazz excursions have already been played in the recent sets of Top-DJ’s like Jazzanova, Rainer Trüby and Peter Kruder, creating quite a buzz within the electric community. They opened up the new Compost mini-series Compost Black Label with their wildstyle anthem “Hormony” and did a really grooving remix for Alex Attias presents Mustang on his “10,000 Leagues Deeper 12”. Their new EP on Sonar Kollektiv is one of this summer’s big records. Watch out for their upcoming residency “Sweat” at the legendary WMF Club in Berlin.

The compilation VariousI Like It Vol.2” (Compost) is going to be released September 12, 2005.
