Thanks to Compost’s legendary and groundbreaking compilation series “Future Sounds Of Jazz” series, the label became one of the most influential labels in electronic music alongside brands such as Mo Wax, Talkin Loud or Warp.

The first issue was released in 1994. And since then, all “Future Sounds Of Jazz” releases have had one thing in common: they have been a guide through the electronic underground scenes. “Future Sounds Of Jazz” has never been about just one musical style. Within the years, the people at Compost have travelled through the territories of Latin sounds, downbeat, electro, hip hop or analogue techno. Compared with the recent issues like Vol. 7 or 8, the new compilation is more focused on deep techno sounds. But on the other hand, “Future Sounds Of Jazz Vol. 10” continues the story that was told by Vol. 1 or 2. Regardless of the changes in music we have witnessed in the the past ten years, “Future Sounds Of Jazz” is still about the soul and the spirit.

“Future Sounds Of Jazz Vol. 10” (release date: 21.03.2005) features Germany’s Ricardo Villalobos (Playhouse / Perlon), Cal Tjader (remixed by Compost’s Michael Reinboth), Raw Fusion’s Povo (remixed by Canada’s Moonstarr), Maurice Fulton (producer of MU “ here, he’s remixing Fred Everything and featured with his Syclops project in 80s boogie style), Cologne’s latest deep techno discovery Gabriel Ananda (remixed by Compost’s Ben Mono), Sweden’s Per Cussion (with the 80s electro disco classic “Manhattan Jungle”), Metaboman from Leipzig / Germany (Musik Krause / Freude Am Tanzen), British newcomers Hot Chip (imagine a fusion of Japan’s David Sylvian / David Karn, Prince, The Beta Band and the Beach Boys), Origami (brand new duo from Italy), General Electrics (remixed by Canadian hip hop production crew The Entity), and Sébastien Tellier’s breathtaking “La Ritournelle” (one of 2004’s biggest tunes on Gilles Peterson’s BBC show Worldwide).

The compilation includes seven tracks that have previously been unreleased on CD. The CD comes in a special jewel case (coloured in blue).
