DUDLEY PERKINS-Testing the waters oversees
Dudley’s in Europe at the moment testing his vocal chords as a singer on a 20 city tour with Lil’ Dap from Group Home. He returns June 28th.

Back home, features are confirmed in Fader, URB, and Mugshot with more coming soon. Video for the single Money is fully shot and in the editing stage.

PEANUT BUTTER WOLF-Triple 5, Sprite
PB WOLF was recently in New York City, shooting a Triple 5 Soul print ad campaign. Following the success of Madlib’s Fall 2002 campaign with Triple 5 Soul, Peanut Butter Wolf will be the second Stones Throw artist to be featured in Triple 5 Soul.

In random sightings, look for PB Wolf behind the turntables in a TV ad for Sprite’s new drink, Remix, aimed at the club scene. Also appearing in ads for Remix are Biz Markie, the Neptunes, and Puff Daddy. The ads are now running.

MADLIB-XLR8R cover, Busta Rhymes, Blue Note
Following two cover shoots in the UK (the most recent being Straight No Chaser), MADLIB will appear on the COVER of XLR8R’s July/August issue – just in time to promote the upcoming JAYLIB (September ˜03) and MADVILLAIN (Q1 ˜04) albums.

Looks like Madlib will have 2 beats on the upcoming Busta Rhymes album. The songs have already been recorded and Busta has paid for the tracks. Time will tell if they make the final cut. Also possibly using Madlib beats for their new albums are rappers Talib Kweli and Q Tip.

Madlib wins a Grammy? You never know after last year’s sweeping by his Blue Note label mate Nora Jones. That’s right, look out for Madlib’s new album, Shades Of Blue, due out at the end of June on Blue Note/Capitol. It’s a combination of remixes, covers, and new songs by Madlib. Let’s hope he gets treated to that same promotional machine that made Nora the success story of the year in 2002.

WILDCHILD-top 5 CMJ, European tour w/Beat Junkies
CODE RED 12 reaches #4 on CMJ Hip Hop (new peak)

Video Shoot has been set for the end of June, when he returns from a month-long. Andrew Gura, who has made videos for DJ Shadow and Levis, as well as DUDLEY PERKINS’ Money (due out next month), is behind the lens.

Currently on a 19 city European tour with the Beat Junkies.

Features in the Source, URB, XLR8R, UK’s Jockey Slut & Dazed and Confused.

STONES THROW-Fader
STONES THROW feature in FADER’s Music We Love issue by Jessica Hundley.
“Stones Throw has been responsible for releasing not only some of the best underground hip hop of recent years, but also for unearthing some of the brightest lost soul classics.”

COCHELLA FESTIVAL
Nearly every artist on STONES THROW’S roster performed at the Coachella Festival last month “ the largest open-air music festival on the West Coast. WILDCHILD tore up the opening set (featuring his daughter KIANA on guest vocals), MADLIB debuted his JAYLIB material to over 1,000 fans and MF DOOM came through as MADVILLAIN. The highlight of the showcase had to be PEANUT BUTTER WOLF crooning his singing debut The Meaning of Love, while perched on the side of the stage, backed up by the one and only DUDLEY PERKINS.

GALT MACDERMOT-Entertainment Weekly, Source, Spin
GALT MACDERMOT’S Up From The Basement anthology has been reviewed in The Source (Up From The Basement has the main ingredients for some future flavors”), was featured in Entertainment Weekly alongside Madlib (“Sample searchers will salivate over Up From The Basement…”), was researched heavily in Dazed and Confused (¦.it’s his lesser known work that turned on a whole new generation.) and was mentioned in Spin (“…hip hop crate-digger’s must-have list…”).
