The Eindhoven based Music For Speakers label announced the re-issue of Sonar Lodge‘s debut album Sound Effects. This was originally released in 2000. The trip noir pop songs of the Dutch duo (consisting of Richard van Kruysdijk and singer Marie-Claudine Vanvlemen) harvested a bagful of euphoric reviews in the international press and thumbs up from some of the world’s leading producers and DJs.

Now this stunning collection of deep and moody breaks will be available on vinyl for the first time. The limited edition double LP edition has been remastered and will come in hand numbered sleeves with a custom made cover by designer UNDO. As a special bonus, it contains two extra tracks (including a remix of The Real Thing with beat programming by Aardvarck (Delsin / Music For Speakers). The CD version will be re-issued as well.

The press has compared Sonar Lodge to artists such as DJ Shadow, Portishead or Cinematic Orchestra. The influences that can be heard on Sound Effects are diverse: underground new wave, 70s avantgarde jazz, 60s cult film music – all this is captured in a contemporary song orientated framwork and clearly rooted in leftfield dance music with soul. What the protagonists of the original Bristol sound lack today – Sound Effect has it all, remodelled to fine shape …
