2 banks of 4 are Demus (producer of the classic Young Disciples l.p ˜Road To freedom’ and engineer to Zero 7, KRS 1 and Biz Markie to U.F.O and Lynden David Hall) and Rob Gallagher (ex- Galliano, now Earl Zinger & Red Egyptian) plus a revolving cast of vocalists and musicians from London’s musical underground.
Following 2000’s highly acclaimed ˜City Watching’ album, ˜Gilles Peterson’s album of 2000′ a world tour that saw them take over the Montreux Jazz festival, global press approval and a string of diverse and acclaimed singles we give you ˜City Watching – remixes’; a collection of 2 brand new tracks, 4 fresh remixes and all the remixes from the 12″‘s.

Street Lullaby – Herbert remix.
London’s most unique producer – Herbert is the don of both the leftfield and house worlds. On a deep tech-jazz tip herbert adds a little distress to this mesmerising ballad. Brand new remix.

Time Flies – Ski.
Fresh from the success of his Gilles Peterson lauded album for Sony and a world tour keyboardist Ski delivers a mid-tempo, Larry Heard-esque house version with a chunky n’funky edge. Brand new remix.

Skylines Over Rooftops – Maas.
Maas a.k.a Ewan Pearson has been making soulful techno and house for nearly a decade for the respected Slam label in Scotland. Taking ˜Skylines..’ in a different direction Maas gives the track a 4/4 makeover using only the mournful vocal from the original. A favourite on 12″ this is slamming house music that’s rocked floors from Barcelona to Singapore.

Afro Blue – Derrick Carter.
Derrick Carter is without doubt one of the most repected techno producers and DJ’s in the world – period! His remixes and original productions have sold tens of thousands worldwide. Deep, chunky and definitely Derrick this track sees the master of the funky jack track take this jazz standard to new heights.

Hook And A Line – Zed Bias.
Zed Bias is one of the most respected producers in his field, remixing artists like Whitney Houston, DJ Zinc and Pharoah Monche. For this remix Zed Bias delivers a storming jazz meets 2 step bomb. Bassbins were made for this track.

Street Lullaby – Fourtet.
Fourtet a.k.a. Kieran Hebden is the 22 year old wunderkind of the experimantal music scene. His new CD is regarded by critics as one of the albums of the year. For this remix Kieran goes for progressive 2 step music, fusing all Fourtet’s leftfield influences with an jazzy UK Garage groove.

Last Dance – Attica Blues.
Attica Blues are the London group who inject all their work with their unending knowldege of London’s club heritage. Like a UK Masters At Work they can turn their hand to hip hop, house or even more futuristic styles. This, though, is the bomb. Taking the vocals and breaking the beat Attica Blues twist Last Dance still further with an anthemic club version, 2001 style. Brand new remix.

Skylines Over Rooftops – Noggi’s Starch Trouser.
A slice of distressed reprise action from the group itself – total chaos.

Theme de la Tete – Anjali.
Anjali is the the former Riot Grrll who reinvented herself as one of the most accomplished producers on the leftfield scene thanks to her use of jazzy grooves, etherreal vocals and orchestral arrangements and her unique debut album on beggars banquet. This is Cinema-scape Anjali style with added strings, brass… and the rest of the orchestra! Brand new remix.

A new version of the Supergrass standard …and 2 Banks of 4 make the song their own. With a racing jazz groove and twisted effects, plus an amazing vocal performance this track has blown away all who’ve heard it. A club re-edit will be available later in the year. Brand new track.

Another awesome ballad from the group and a stunning vocal from Jean Caramouce. Brand new track.

2 Banks of 4 ˜City Watching – Remixes’ will be released on July 9th on Sirkus Recordings ( sirk lp / cd005)
